1. Access to College Classes

Languages Across Borders (LAB) Vancouver is located on the same campus as LaSalle College, where local Canadian students attend.
Some courses are taught by college professors, while others are taught at the College by regular college students.

The college offers courses in art, fashion, hospitality and many other fields of study.
Students can study English at the LAB Vancouver and then study other fields of study at the college.

2. Refresher Fridays

General English, English for Academic Purposes and IELTS Preparation classes at LAB are only scheduled from Mondays to Thursdays, with no classes on Fridays.
Free activities and special classes are offered at LAB with many students participating.

Seasonal activities such as kayaking, visits to football games at the University of British Columbia, picnics, pronunciation classes, cooking classes and other extra classes are offered, allowing students to refresh and relax on Fridays!

3. Motivational Awards Ceremony

LAB offers a monthly Student of the Month recognition opportunity, where the student who represents the month is awarded.
Some students are awarded scholarships of two to four weeks, with the possibility of extending their study abroad experience.

There is also the Ambassador of the Year award, an annual award that gives the recipient and their family free English language classes at LAB for life, which is a great motivator for all students.

  • GENERAL ENGLISH

    This is a General English course that anyone can attend for a minimum of one week.
    The goal of this course is to improve the four basic skills of speaking, listening, writing and reading that are useful in daily life, and to help students become more confident in communicating in English.

    Upon reaching an intermediate level, students can choose to switch to a class that focuses on listening and pronunciation.

  • ACADEMIC ENGLISH

    This course is designed for students who are preparing to enter universities and colleges in North America. Students will work with reading texts from a wide range of disciplines to improve their grammatical accuracy and vocabulary.

    The minimum course length is 4 weeks, the minimum level of participation is Pre-Intermediate with a monthly start date.

  • IELTS PREPARATION

    This is a preparatory course for the official IELTS examinations, which includes practice tests to reinforce the techniques and tips to help students achieve their target score.
    As LAB Vancouver is an official IELTS test center (both General and Academic), students will be able to take the IELTS examination on the day of the official examination at their regular campus, eliminating any anxiety and allowing them to relax and calm down.

    The minimum course length is 4 weeks and the minimum level is Upper Intermediate.

  • ENGLISH PLUS YEAR ROUND

    This course is ideal for those who are looking to improve their General or Preparatory English skills, but are not satisfied with English classes alone.
    Students take regular English classes from Mondays to Thursdays and on Fridays, they can take the Friday PLUS classes for up to 8 weeks with an instructor from LAB's sister school, LaSalle College.

    The program includes Art & Design, Game Design and Culinary & Hospitality classes, each of which includes workshops and extracurricular activities at related companies.
    The minimum course duration is 8 weeks, the minimum level of participation is Intermediate with four start dates for the course annually.

  • ENGLISH PLUS COLLEGE CERTIFICATE

    This is a 24-week course that allows students to take the same classes as regular college students at LAB's sister school, LaSalle College.
    The first 5 weeks are the same schedule as GENERAL ENGLISH and ACADEMIC ENGLISH, the middle 8 weeks are the same schedule as ENGLISH PLUS YEAR ROUND, and the last 11 weeks are 4 courses of interest from the 13 courses offered at LaSalle College.

    The last 11 weeks of the course schedule is the same as the English Plus Year Round Program.
    Courses are diverse and include Graphic Design, Fashion Design, Hospitality Management and various others.
    Credits earned at the college (12 or 15) are 100% transferable to LaSalle College.

    The minimum level of enrollment is Intermediate with four start dates for the course annually.
