Air Algérie, established in 1947 when Algeria was still a French colony, is the fourth-largest airline in Africa. It operates domestic flights connecting 28 cities within Algeria, as well as international routes to 39 cities in 28 countries. Due to Algeria's historical ties, its primary international destinations include France and other European countries, as well as the Middle East.
In 2007, Air Algérie launched its first transatlantic route to Montreal, Canada, followed by the introduction of services to Beijing, China. While it is not commonly seen in Japan, the airline’s white aircraft with red accents evokes a nostalgic familiarity, reminiscent of Japan Airlines’ former livery.
Currently, Air Algérie’s international fleet mainly consists of Airbus A330-200s and Boeing 767-300ERs. The airline has placed additional orders for two A330-200s and ten B787-7s, with plans to modernize its fleet with 31 new aircraft.
Future goals include expanding its network with direct flights between Algiers and New York, positioning Air Algérie as an airline with strong growth potential. Additionally, the company is focusing on upgrading its management systems and tools, addressing safety concerns, and enhancing operational reliability.
The adoption of e-ticketing systems and other technological advancements is also part of its strategy to improve passenger convenience, drawing attention from the global aviation industry for its commitment to modernization.
