Air Caledonia is a French airline which is also known under a few other titles. Air Caledonia is also branded as its French name, Air Calédonie, and is also known by the shortened title ‘Aircalin’. Air Caledonia formed on 9th December 1954 by a group of enthusiasts in the French aviation industry. Air Caledonia aimed to provide transport around Nouméa and the airline was known as ‘Transpac’ back then. The airline reached a milestone of transporting a total of 100,000 passengers flown in one year in 1980. This number increased to 400,000 in 2013/2014. The airline has flown over 10 million passengers over a period of 60 years.
