Established in 1987 as "Milne Bay Air," the airline rebranded to its current name, PNG Air, in November 2015, accompanied by a refreshed logo. Operating out of its hub at Port Moresby, PNG Air serves 22 major cities across Papua New Guinea, solidifying its position as the country's second-largest airline. In addition to passenger services, the airline has expanded its operations in freight transportation and charter flights.
PNG Air has initiated a business plan to replace its current fleet of 14 Dash-8 aircraft with new ATR72-600 turboprop planes by 2020. Compared to the Dash-8, the ATR72-600 offers enhanced comfort, improved safety, and greater reliability. The seating capacity increases significantly from 37 to 72 seats, enabling the airline to accommodate more passengers while maintaining high safety standards.

Passengers on the Dash-8 aircraft can enjoy a selection of movies via the onboard DVD system. Meanwhile, the ATR72-600 boasts an interior designed by Giugiaro, the renowned Italian designer famous for crafting luxury car interiors. With its roomy leather seats, ample legroom, and enhanced LED lighting, this aircraft offers a refined and comfortable travel experience.
1.Corporate Advantage Fare (Q):
・Flexibility: Changes allowed up to 1 hour before departure without a change fee (fare difference applies).
・Re-routing: Permitted with a PGK110.00 fee plus any fare difference.
・Refunds: Fully refundable within 14 days after the scheduled departure, subject to a PGK110.00 administration fee.
・No-Show Fee: PGK165.00, payable upon rebooking.
・Child/Infant Fares:
・Children (2–11 years): 75% of the adult fare.
・Infants (<2 years, no seat): Surcharge applies. With a seat: 75% of the adult fare.
2. Flexi Fare / Thrifty Fare (L/T):
・Flexibility: Changes allowed up to 1 hour before departure with a PGK110.00 fee plus fare difference.
・Re-routing: Not permitted.
・Refunds: Non-refundable but can be held as credit for 12 months.
・No-Show Fee: PGK165.00, payable upon rebooking.
・Child/Infant Fares:
・Children: 75% of the adult fare.
・Infants (<2 years, no seat): 10% of the adult fare. With a seat: 75%.
3. Value Fare / Bonus Fare (V/B):
・Flexibility: Changes allowed up to 24 hours before departure with a PGK110.00 fee plus fare difference.
・Re-routing: Not permitted.
・Refunds: Non-refundable but can be held as credit for 12 months (if canceled at least 24 hours before departure).
・No-Show Policy: Loss of fare.
Child/Infant Fares: Same as Flexi Fare.
4. The Wild Fare (W):
・Flexibility: Changes allowed up to 48 hours before departure with a PGK110.00 fee plus fare difference.
・Re-routing: Not permitted.
・Refunds: Non-refundable but can be held as credit for 12 months (if canceled at least 48 hours before departure).
・No-Show Policy: Loss of fare.
・Child/Infant Fares: Same as Flexi Fare.
・Note: All fees are in Papua New Guinean Kina (PGK).
・Fleet:
ATR 72-600: Single-class configuration with 72 seats, offering 30–31 inches (76–78 cm) of seat pitch for adequate legroom.
Dash-8: Operates in a single-class layout, focusing on passenger comfort and safety.
・Seat Selection:
Seats are assigned during check-in. Passengers are advised to arrive at the boarding gate at least 20 minutes before departure. Cabin crew assists in locating assigned seats.
・Cabin Class:
PNG Air operates a single Economy Class cabin across its fleet, ensuring uniform service and comfort for all passengers.
No Current Program: As of November 2024, PNG Air does not offer a frequent flyer program.
Past Program: Previously, PNG Air participated in Velocity Frequent Flyer, but this partnership has ended.
