Air Niugini - Overview
Air Niugini is the national carrier of Papua New Guinea. The name “Niugini” literally translates to “New Guinea” in Tok Pisin, the official language of Papua New Guinea. Air Niugini was established in 1973 and was conceptualized as a purely domestic airline. Shortly thereafter, Air Niugini expanded its operations and made it possible for passengers to purchase an air ticket to international destinations. Air Niugini is headquartered in Air Niugini house at Jacksons International Airport, Port Moresby. This is also where its primary hub is located. Air Niugini has codeshare agreements with two other airlines, namely, Qantas and Solomon Airlines.

Air Niugini passengers can sit back and relax on their flights with comfortable seats that can be converted into fully flat beds for those with a Business Class air ticket.
In-flight meal
There is also an extensive selection for the in-flight meals, whether it is breakfast, lunch, dinner or supper. Even passengers on short haul flights are offered a selection of snacks to ensure no one arrives at their destination on an empty stomach.
In-flight entertainment
Passengers also have a range of options for video- and audio- on- demand for in-flight entertainment. Guests who wish to purchase items such as luxury fragrances, children’s toys, cosmetics and other goods may do so on board the aircraft as duty free service is available anytime during the flight. These items may also be pre-booked prior to the flight by making an order and payment at the Air Niugini Paradise Lounge for flights departing from Port Moresby.

Great price and good service
We had arranged a diving trip for a party of 15 flying out from Sydney to Port Moresby. It was our first time buying Air Niugini air tickets. Our experience with Air Niugini was unexpectedly great. The plane was well-maintained with comfortable seating and ample legroom. Air Niugini flight staff were also very accommodating and provided impeccable service. Our flight tickets were very reasonable and the service was wonderful. We have a return air ticket on Air Niugini for our flight back home and I am looking forward to it.

Can I earn points on the Destinations Loyalty Program even if I did not use my air ticket?
No. You can only earn points if you use the air ticket. Points can only be earned once the flight is taken. If an air ticket is not registered upon purchase, the points for that flight will be automatically forfeited
Can anyone join and become a Destinations member?
Anyone over the age of 18 can sign up and become a Destinations member for free on the website. If a passenger under the age of 18 wishes to become a Destinations member, he can sign up for the Minors club and pay the joining fee of PKG 1,000. Members of the Minors Club are entitled to earn points for air ticket purchases and travel as well as access to the lounges operated by Air Niugini.

About mileage program of Air Niugini
Passengers on Air Niugini can sign up for the free Destinations Loyalty Program where they can earn points for every air ticket purchase. Entry-level membership is free of charge; members can opt to have their membership upgraded by paying a fee of PGK 1,599 for Silver Executive and PGK 2,299 for Gold Executive. Air Niugini passengers who are 12 to 18 years old can also sign up for the Minors Club where they can earn points for air ticket purchases. Destinations members can also earn points for Air Niugini air ticket purchases made by friends and family members who are registered under the account.
Air Niugini- Check-In Procedures
Online check-in
Passengers on Air Niugini with a valid air ticket can skip the queue at the airport and enjoy the convenience of checking in online. Online check-in is open from 24 hours up to 3 hours prior to the flight. Passengers who have checked in online can print their boarding passes and directly proceed to the Air Niugini bag drop counters to deposit any checked bags.
Airport check-in
Some routes however, do not support online check-in, so passengers must check-in at the airport. Passengers checking in at the airport are advised to bring valid travel documents and air ticket to the counter at least three hours before the flight.
