Avianca Airlines is the largest airline in Colombia and serves as the country's flag carrier. Its hub is located at El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá, connecting over 100 destinations across 25 countries in North America, Central America, South America, and Europe. Avianca is also the second-oldest airline in the world, following KLM Royal Dutch Airlines. In 2012, the airline officially joined Star Alliance, making its frequent flyer program compatible with ANA's partner airlines. Avianca later merged with TACA Airlines, Colombia's second-largest airline, and now operates as part of the Avianca Group.
Avianca Airlines is one of the fastest-growing airlines in Brazil. It handles over 2 million passengers monthly and more than 25 million annually. The airline operates a modern fleet of 41 aircraft, which has earned top ratings for seat pitch from the Brazilian Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC), making it the only airline in Brazil with such recognition. In 2015, Avianca projected over 8 million total passengers. Additionally, Avianca is a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and has maintained IOSA (IATA Operational Safety Audit) certification since 2010, highlighting its commitment to safety and operational excellence.
