Beijing Capital Airlines originated from Deer Jet, an airline founded in 1995. Deer Jet entered the scheduled passenger flight business in 2006. Then, in 2010, it separated its scheduled passenger flight operations into a new entity under the HNA Group, which became Beijing Capital Airlines. Deer Jet itself continues to operate as an airline specializing in charter flights using jet aircraft.
While initially focused on domestic routes within China, Beijing Capital Airlines has rapidly expanded its international network. As of 2017, it has established a vast network connecting nearly 70 cities around the world.
