Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the flag carrier of Bangladesh, was established on the 4th of February 1972 and is the youngest but one of the fastest growing airline of the decade. Initially, it was known as Air Bangladesh. It was certified to fly in the European Union by European Aviation Safety Agency and has also successfully passed the much reputed IATA Operational Safety Audit and can fly to various destinations across Asia and Europe.
After the independence of Bangladesh, Biman Bangladesh Airlines started its operation with the former staffs of Pakistan International Airlines by acquiring a Douglas DC-3 from India and were primarily catering domestic services linking Dhaka with main other cities of Bangladesh. Today, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has a fleet of 12 aircrafts, offering air ticket purchaser to choose from more than 18 destinations, including Europe and USA.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines offers excellent on board services to its air ticket holders. They offer delicious snacks, meals and beverages depending on the duration of the flight, air ticket class and the time of day. Medical issues like allergies to certain foods are also taken care of by Biman Bangladesh Airlines as long as at the time of purchasing an air ticket a special request was made.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has also launched its in-flight bi-monthly magazine known as Bihanga. Biman Bangladesh Airlines does not have much connectivity with rest of world but the airline is cheap considering the quality of food, entertainment, and comfort. Excellent in-flight service was provided, especially the Asian vegetarian and non-veg meals and entertaining music. I would certainly recommend the flight to my fellow countrymen.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines staff were well mannered and extremely professional. They know how to satisfy the passengers even when the flight was delayed, even if you have confirmed an air ticket. Very good management.
We booked a round trip from, Dhaka to Jeddah and back. The seats were comfortable and the staff catered to our various needs with interest. In the flight, we had special instructions, while disembarking at Jeddah Airport. I love flying Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
A. Air tickets are available for purchase online as well as over the counter with a maximum limit of six tickets at a time. Purchase of air tickets are also possible through travel agents and can be booked over the phone. The booking method makes no difference on the price of the air ticket.
Business class air ticket holders are allowed 2 pieces up to 30kg and 10kg as cabin baggage. Economy class air ticket holders are allowed up to 20kgs and 7kg as cabin baggage. However, the baggage policy may change periodically and air ticket holders will need to check with the airline for any changes.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines has developed a frequent flyer program for its members who repeatedly purchase an air ticket and travel with them. This program is called the Biman Loyalty Club and has over 8,000 members. The program offers air ticket holders privileges which are obtained by collecting points or air miles which are added to the member’s account every time they fly with Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The number of air miles earned depends on various factors like the air ticket class. Air ticket holders can enjoy the extra benefits of lounge allowance, priority check-in at the airport, extra baggage allowance, mileage bonus and tiered benefits.
Air ticket holders should check-in at the airport counter 45-120 minutes before the departure of both international and domestic flights.
In association with the German e-ticketing company, Hahn Air, Biman Bangladesh Airlines has launched the e-air ticket service. It enables customers to purchase an air ticket online and enables air ticket holders to check-in online thus avoiding long queues at check-in counters at the airport. This service also allows air ticket holders to select their preferred choice of seat or make special requests.
