Fly Gangwon is the only airline operating out of Yangyang International Airport in Gangwon Province.Unlike major cities such as Seoul and Busan, Gangwon Province (Gangwon-do) is known for having a myriad of "places" that visitors may recognize from Korean dramas and K-pop music videos. The "Holy Land Pilgrimage" to Gangwon-do takes several hours from Incheon, but travelers can visit directly by flying with Fly Gangwon flights to Yangyang International Airport.
As of July 2022, Yangyang International Airport is the only airport in mainland Korea that allows VISA-free entry. Yangyang International Airport, which is also connected to Seoul by land (approximately 2 and a half hours by bus), is expected to become the most important airport as the gateway to aviation in Korea after 2022. Fly Gangwon is the only such airline based in Yangyang International Airport.
Fly Gangwon currently operates a fleet of three Boeing 737-800s and an additional seven state-of-the-art Airbus A330-200s are scheduled to be introduced between September 2022 and 2026. Taking full advantage of the performance of the best-selling A330 aircraft, which is fuel-efficient while having sufficient range to reach Europe and the mainland U.S., the airline is able to fly from Japan via Yangyang and Incheon airports to Europe, the U.S. and Singapore using its outbound rights.
