Voice of Travelers to Micronesia

Island-Hopping Adventure!

I have always been fascinated by the nature and culture of the South Pacific and was looking for a location that would allow me to see both. Micronesia did all that and even more! I booked an air ticket with United Airlines to Chuuk International Airport, in which the flight was very comfortable. I traveled to the state of Yap, Pohnpei, and Chuuk where I stayed. To go to the islands of Micronesia, I bought an air ticket from Continental Micronesia Airlines which is a small local airline.
All in all, I found the adventures in Micronesia to be a wonderful experience and am very happy that I flew with those airlines!

So Happy That I Took This Vacation!

I'm an American living in Guam and wanted to see more of the South Pacific during my vacation. So I booked an air ticket to Palikir, then booked additional air tickets to get around other islands in Micronesia. It was very easy to book tickets, and I was very happy with my experience with United Airlines. I was especially satisfied with how professional the on board service was. One tip that everyone should know is to make sure to be at the airport an hour or two ahead of the departure time indicated on your ticket!

Micronesia Travel FAQs

Q. How do I get around within Micronesia?

A. Because the Federated States of Micronesia includes four states, each composed of multiple islands, there are many great things to do. It is best to choose air tickets that will allow you to maximize your time on each island. Taking flights within Micronesia is straightforward as each state has an airport. But you should look for air tickets that follow the flow of air traffic as United Airlines only offer flights flying from west to east on some days of the week and east to west on the others.

Q. Where should I go in Micronesia?

A. Micronesia has quite a lot attractions to offer travelers! Yap is famous for its enormous Stone Money, while Pohnpei has Nan Madol, an ancient city, and famous archeological site. Micronesia also has beautiful beaches and incredible biodiversity in terms of both marine and terrestrial life. Birdwatching on small islands is well worth the price of an air ticket. Getting around between the states is easy and tickets are always available for island-hopping flights.

Q. When is the best time to visit Micronesia?

A. As air tickets are available year-round, it can be difficult to decide when to visit Micronesia. A travel during typhoon season should definitely be avoided, so look for tickets from January to May. In those seasons, the climate of Micronesia will be very pleasant and warm, with a bit of precipitation. But the climate is still pleasant for travelers looking for an island paradise.
