Voice of Travelers to Iqaluit
Ticket to Iqaluit
This is Cathy from Toronto. I have lived all my life in Canada but never had the chance to visit the northern areas of the country. Last summer, I decided to buy a ticket to the northernmost arctic capital of Canada, Iqaluit. I was hesitant at first to buy the ticket and even my family was also nervous because of the weather and the restricted transportation. While the ticket had a stop in between; I flew to Ottawa from Toronto and then to Iqaluit, I did not regret buying the ticket one bit. I experienced a completely new way of living, something that I was not used to. I saw snow monuments, did traditional fishing, visited museums, and visited the snowy parks. I have to say, at some points, I forgot I got a ticket to a city in Canada. It almost felt like I was in a different country. It was an excellent experience nonetheless and I made some lovely friends.
Direct ticket
I am Holly from Ottawa. I visited Iqaluit with my husband. We got a direct ticket to Iqaluit from Ottawa. We both love traveling and experiencing different cultures. We went in summer months and really enjoyed the outdoor activities. We even learned traditional fishing methods. The people of Iqaluit were very warm and welcoming. We learned a lot of survival strategies from them. The scenery was also breathtaking, with many mountains, rivers and waterfalls. I really wanted to see a polar bear and finally on the last day of our visit, one showed up. Overall, the trip was fantastic. My husband wants to visit again, this time in winter. I am a little hesitant because of the extreme weather conditions but I am secretly saving up for the ticket. I think Iqaluit would be great even in winter, because of the knowledgeable community present.
