Special meals are divided into 3 groups, which include medical or dietary meals, religious meals, and meals for children. The medical and dietary menus consist of low cholesterol, gluten free, low salt, low calorie, and diabetic options. The Alitalia religious menu consists of Asian vegetarian, Muslim, Kosher, and Hindu options. The Alitalia children’s menu is divided into sections for both baby meals (0 to 24 months) and children’s meals (2 years to 12 years).

There are a number of ways to check in with Alitalia including online check-in and mobile check-in. Mobile check in allows Alitalia passengers to check-in via their smartphone app, which is compatible with iOS and for Android phones. Fast check-in is available at the Alitalia airport kiosks. It's also possible to check-in with Alitalia by calling their customer service. Check in time is limited to 35 minutes before departure for domestic flights and 60 minutes for international flights.
