Voice of Travelers to Jyväskylä

A layover in Jyväskylä with ticket purchased by Finnair

I traveled on an onward ticket from Helsinki through Jyväskylä to Kajaani. I purchased the ticket with Finnair. While the ticket was quite expensive, I preferred this option instead of a return direct ticket from Helsinki directly to Kajaani so that I can see Jyväskylä which I had always wanted to visit. I bought the ticket in a ticket agency. Once aboard Finnair, I was surprised by great service and the possibility to buy a bus ticket to the center of Jyväskylä. When I landed at Jyväskylä, I took a bus to Jyväskylä and I spent two days exploring Jyväskylä and its surrounding area. With a direct ticket to Kajaani, I would not have discovered Jyväskylä. I am more than happy that I decided for this airfare ticket with a short stop in Jyväskylä.

Visiting Jyväskylä and functionalist architecture

I visited Jyväskylä two years ago. My visit to Jyväskylä was focused on the functionalist architecture of Alvar Aalto as I am an architect myself. I was actually invited to Jyväskylä by the World Association of architects, so all my travel costs, including an airfare ticket from Toronto to Jyväskylä, were covered by them. Thanks to this invitation, I was able to discover first class service aboard the Air Canada flight from Toronto to Helsinki. Then, I continued on a Finnair flight to Jyväskylä. The return ticket to Sydney was probably quite pricey. My return ticket from Jyväskylä was three days afterwards as this was only a short business trip. I will probably fly to Jyväskylä again soon, this time paying for my own ticket. I would like to lectures at the Jyväskylä university this time.
