Porter Airlines is one of Canada’s two low-cost carriers, based in Toronto. It primarily serves 15 cities within Canada and 8 cities in the U.S., focusing on the East Coast. Plans are underway to expand service to the West Coast, including Vancouver and California. A key reason for Porter Airlines’ popularity is its use of Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, located on an island directly across from downtown Toronto, instead of the more distant Toronto Pearson International Airport. Travelers can reach downtown in just about 3 minutes via a ferry, which departs approximately every 15 minutes.
Porter Airlines is celebrated for its high level of design sophistication. From the airport lounge to the aircraft interiors, the airline maintains a sleek and unified aesthetic. Its original merchandise also reflects this stylish branding, and the raccoon mascot, Porter, frequently appears in in-flight magazines and advertisements. The retro-inspired uniforms of the cabin crew evoke the golden age of air travel, adding a touch of nostalgia to the experience.
Another highlight is Porter’s airport lounge, accessible to all passengers regardless of ticket class. Unlike most airline lounges limited to business class or higher, Porter offers complimentary coffee, tea, juice, and light snacks to everyone, making it a favorite among travelers.

Porter Airlines has many relatively short flights, but even on flights of about 2 to 3 hours, they provide snacks. Sandwiches, cakes, and drinks in glass glasses are served. In addition, beer and wine are available for free, so you feel like you are in first class. Although Porter Airlines is a small airline, its excellent service has been recognized worldwide, and it is the only Canadian airline to receive a four-star rating from Skytrax.
Porter Airlines' in-flight magazine is so stylish that it could be mistaken for a fashion magazine. It has a lot of content, and you can read back issues online. Another nice feature is that it's small in size, so you can read it easily even in a small cabin.
