Sichuan Airlines was established in 1986 and began operations in 1988. In 2002, it became a joint-stock company under Sichuan Airlines Group Co., Ltd., in partnership with China Southern Airlines, Shanghai Airlines, Shandong Airlines, and Chengdu Gingko Catering Co., Ltd.
