TUI Airways - Overview

1TUI Airways: A Leading British Airline

TUI Airways traces its origins back to 1962, when it was established as Euravia. In 1964, the airline was renamed Britannia Airways, and in 2005, it became known as Thomsonfly. In 2008, the German travel agency TUI—Thomsonfly's parent company—and the British travel agency First Choice Holidays, which owned First Choice Airways, merged. Following the merger, the airline adopted its current name, TUI Airways, marking the birth of the world’s largest charter airline.

In 2012, TUI Airways received its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner, becoming the first airline in the UK to operate this aircraft type on commercial routes. The Dreamliner's maiden passenger flight took place in 2013, connecting London Gatwick and Spain's Menorca Island. Looking ahead, the TUI Group has announced plans to rebrand all its affiliated airlines under the TUI Airlines banner.

2Your Gateway to Resort Destinations with TUI Airways

TUI Airways specializes in routes to popular resort destinations, including Mediterranean coastal cities, as well as locations in Africa and Asia. Each year, the airline transports over 10 million passengers to destinations worldwide, making it the third-largest airline in the UK by passenger numbers. Since its inception, TUI Airways has earned recognition for its punctuality, being awarded as the most on-time charter airline in the UK for six consecutive years starting in 2009.
