Its maiden flight was from London Gatwick to Newark International Airport. Virgin Atlantic has its headquarters located in Crawley, United Kingdom and flights operate out of its two main hubs located at London Heathrow and London Gatwick. The airline also operates seasonal flights from Belfast. In addition, its secondary hub is located at Manchester. In 2012, Virgin Atlantic flew a total of 5.4 million passengers, making it the seventh largest UK airline in terms of passenger volume.

Virgin Atlantic provides excellent on board service, starting with in-flight meals where passengers can choose from as selection of three main courses. All food served is fresh and delicious. There is also a wide selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to choose from.
Regardless of the air ticket class, everyone on board can enjoy free on-demand audio, video and Wi-Fi connectivity on select flights. Children are also treated to a selection of kid's movies and shows to make sure that they are entertained.
Passengers with an Upper Class air ticket can enjoy additional luxury by traveling in a seat which converts to a full size flat bed. This ensures that passengers are well rested once they arrive at their destination.

I flew from Orlando to London on Virgin Atlantic twice this year and both flights were great. I am very tall and I always book extra legroom for my flights. We booked an air ticket on a red-eye flight. I do not really like long flights but it was such a good deal I couldn't pass up. However, our flight went very well from check-in to disembarkation as the staffs were attentive and served our meals on time and asked us what else we needed. The amenity kits were great too. We arrived well-rested after our flight. We will definitely grab another air ticket on Virgin Atlantic in the future.
Yes. Virgin Atlantic provides special meals for those with dietary requirements or religious restrictions. A special meal request can be made at the time you book an air ticket online. Special meals can also be requested after booking the air ticket through the Virgin Atlantic customer service hotline at least 48 hours before the flight.
Yes. Assistive devices such as walking canes or fully collapsible wheelchairs are permitted in the cabin. However, the cane must not be sharp. Carry-on wheelchairs, on the other hand, are permitted on select flights and subject to the availability of space in the cabin. If there is no space to stow the wheelchair, it has to be checked-in. The wheelchair will be prioritized to be unloaded upon arrival so that it can be used be used immediately.
A Virgin Atlantic passenger can sign up to the “Flying Club” for free and start earning points on their air ticket purchases. A member is initially designated Red Membership, and is subsequently upgraded to Silver and Gold Membership, depending on the tier points accumulated. When a member qualifies for Silver or Gold membership, they can enjoy additional privileges. Points are not only earned by purchasing an air ticket, but by also spending with any Virgin Atlantic partner establishment. Points

Virgin Atlantic passengers with a valid air ticket can check-in online and do not need to queue at the airport. Online check-in is available at least 24 hours and closes 70 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Passengers who have checked-in online can proceed to drop their bags at the designated bag drop counters at the airport.
Passengers can also check-in personally at Virgin Atlantic check-in counters by presenting their air ticket along with valid travel documents. Passengers who opt to check-in at the airport have to arrive at least 3 hours prior to departure to complete all formalities.
