Air India

Air India is an airline based in Delhi and Mumbai, India. Established as Tata Airlines in 1932, the airline launched its first international flight, operating a Lockheed Constellation L-749A named Malabar Princess from Bombay to London Heathrow last 1948. The airline’s direct flights to the rapidly growing Indian economy have become essential routes for business travelers. In 2007, Air India merged with Indian Airlines, which operated domestic and short-haul international routes, making it the largest airline in India in both name and reality. The same year, Air India was approved for membership in the Star Alliance and officially joined in 2014.

Air India’s in-flight experience is infused with the essence of Indian culture. Cabin crew welcome passengers wearing traditional Indian attire, the sari. Meals served onboard include authentic Indian curry, prepared under the guidance of Indian chefs. The in-flight monitors often showcase Indian movies, allowing passengers to immerse themselves in Indian culture through various services.

In terms of accolades, Air India became the first Indian airline to pass the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) in 2003. It also won the "Trusted Brand Gold Award" from Reader’s Digest for eight consecutive years. In 2007, the airline was recognized by the United Nations Environment Programme with the "Montreal Protocol Public Awareness Award" for its commitment to environmental protection.
