Volunteer trip to Khartoum
As a volunteer in several volunteer groups I ended up in Khartoum for three weeks. My time there was emotionally moving. I experienced life changing events that have made me not view the world through the same eyes. We flew via American airlines where we had acquired our one way ticket. On our way back we got the ticket from British airways. Everytime I think of Khartoum teas fill my eyes. We had gone to Khartoum to provide aid to families that had been held in refugee camps after fleeing war from the Southern part of Sudan. I would urge everyone reading this to get a ticket to Khartoum and volunteer however much they can in the city.
Home visit after 10 years to Khartoum
My name is Jane Deng. I am a refugee from Sudan living in the US currently. We fled Khartoum due to war ten years ago. My first time back was a month ago. We decided with my family to take a trip back to Khartoum. We started by getting our air ticket from American airlines. It was the only ticket with minimal stops. The return ticket was also acquired from the same airline. The air of excitement filled the whole three rows in the plane filled by all my relatives who had all acquired a ticket back home. We would stay there for two weeks, everyone was excited. We finally arrived after several hours. The plane service was great, I vouched to be acquiring my ticket from them every time. When we arrived we could not recognize Khartoum. Everything in Khartoum had changed.
