Three Singapore-Style Recommended Cafés Found in the Marina Bay Area!
1. Chihuly Lounge
At Chihuly Lounge, located inside The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore, you can enjoy one of the most popular afternoon teas in Singapore. Named after the renowned American glass artist Dale Chihuly, this lounge is an elegant café space for adults where you can relax and enjoy café time while admiring his glass artworks.
The traditional afternoon tea, served on a three-tier tray, is available on weekdays from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM. The secret to its popularity lies not only in the atmosphere and taste, but also in its surprisingly reasonable price. Why not try an afternoon tea where you can enjoy an elegant mood accompanied by live piano music? Every detail is refined, as expected from a first-class hotel lounge.
2. TWG Tea Salon Marina Bay Sands
Tea lovers should definitely visit the TWG Tea Salon, a popular Singapore-born brand offering an impressive selection of around 400 types of tea at all times. It has expanded to Bangkok, Dubai, Hong Kong, and even Japan. Although tea is not cultivated in Singapore, TWG imports carefully selected tea leaves from 36 countries and creates its own original blended teas.
There are two TWG Tea Salon locations at Marina Bay Sands. One is situated on a bridge over the canal that runs through the complex, where gondolas pass below. The other is inside a shopping mall lined with luxury brands and is designed like a garden, decorated with many orchids—the national flower of Singapore. Inside the salon, tea connoisseurs are available to help, so if you’re unsure what to choose, feel free to share your preferences and ask for advice. Tea set menus with cakes and scones are especially popular. There are also sweets, cakes, and ice cream made with tea leaves, so be sure to give them a try.

3. Ki Yen Coffee Shop (YY Kafei Dian)
Located behind Raffles Hotel, the slightly retro-style Ki Yen Coffee Shop (YY Kafei Dian) feels more like a traditional coffee shop than a modern café. It’s a casual, down-to-earth place bustling with local people chatting over cups of coffee.
The specialty here is the classic Singapore breakfast set featuring kaya toast. While thinly sliced bread is common for kaya toast in Singapore, this shop serves fluffy, thick slices. The toast is grilled until crispy on the outside, then spread with a green jam made from eggs, coconut milk, pandan leaves, and sugar, with thinly sliced butter sandwiched in between. It’s typically served with soft-boiled eggs and coffee. You don’t have to order the full set—just toast and coffee is perfectly fine—so be sure to give it a try. The unique taste of this kaya toast is addictively delicious. It’s perfect not only for breakfast, but also when you’re feeling a bit hungry. Although it’s a café, the menu also includes a wide variety of local foods such as noodles and chicken rice, giving it a nostalgic feel similar to old-fashioned Japanese coffee shops.

◎ Summary
When sightseeing in hot Singapore, café time is extremely important. Avoid overexertion, give your body some rest, and make sure to replenish fluids and sugar. Of course, there are many chain cafés like Starbucks, but if you have the chance, trying Singapore-style afternoon tea or high tea, as well as local-style coffee shops, is a wonderful experience. Enjoy an elegant tea time in the Marina Bay area.
