Frequently Asked Questions About Rental Cars Near Shimojishima Airport (FAQ)

• What is the cancellation fee and how do I cancel after booking?

You can cancel after booking from the reservation confirmation screen in your My Page. Cancellation fees follow the cancellation policy of the plan you booked, and the amount and free cancellation period vary by plan. As a general guide: free up to 7 days before departure, 20-30% of the usage fee 2-6 days before, 40-50% the day before, 50% on the day (before departure), and 100% if you miss the departure time or do not contact the store. Note that "non-refundable" plans are charged a 100% cancellation fee from the time of booking. Please note that if more than 1 hour passes after your reservation time without contact, it will be treated as a cancellation. For plans paid in advance by card, the difference after deducting the cancellation fee will be refunded later.

• What about insurance and coverage?

All rental car plans on this site are priced inclusive of the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW). CDW is included as standard and covers the excess amount (out-of-pocket cost) you would otherwise bear in the event of an accident. As a guide, the excess is approximately ¥50,000 for property damage and approximately ¥50,000-¥100,000 for vehicle damage. Separately, the Non-Operation Charge (NOC), which applies when the vehicle cannot be used for business due to an accident, is handled apart from CDW and is approximately ¥20,000 if the vehicle is still drivable or approximately ¥50,000 if it is not. Some plans also offer additional paid options, such as coverage that waives the NOC. Coverage details and amounts vary by plan and rental car company, so please also check the Help Center for more information.

• What is included in the displayed price?

The price shown in search results and on each plan is the total for the rental period you specify (pickup to return), and the base rate includes the Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) fee. Since CDW is included in the displayed price, you do not need to apply for it separately. Prices are shown tax included. On the other hand, coverage beyond the Non-Operation Charge (NOC), one-way drop-off fees, fuel charges (if not returned with a full tank), after-hours usage fees for late-night or early-morning use, and option fees such as child seats or car navigation are not included in the displayed price and may be charged separately depending on the plan and how you use the car. For details on what is included in the price, please search using the search form on this page and check each plan's detail page.

• Can I extend or return the car early after picking it up?

Changes to your rental period after pickup (i.e., after your rental has started) — such as extending or returning the car early — cannot be handled through skyticket (this site). If you wish to extend or return the car early after pickup, please contact the store you are using directly. Whether this is possible, and any additional fees or refunds, vary by rental car company, store, and plan. If your plans are likely to change, we recommend contacting the store as early as possible.

• Are there any charges besides the displayed price?

In addition to the displayed price (base rate + CDW fee), the following charges may apply depending on how you use the car: the Non-Operation Charge (NOC) in the event of an accident and the additional coverage that waives it (paid option), one-way drop-off fees when returning the car to a different store than where you picked it up, fuel charges if the car is not returned with a full tank (or the fee for a fuel-not-required option), after-hours fees for use outside business hours such as late night or early morning, option fees for items like child seats, car navigation, or ETC, and cancellation processing fees. Whether these apply and their amounts vary by plan, store, and time of use, so please check each plan's detail page or the booking screen.
