Alexander Nevsky Cathedral
One of the most impressive buildings in Novosibirsk, Alexander Nevsky Cathedral stands at the heart of the city, built in a stunning Neo-Byzantine architectural style in the 19th century. One of the first buildings to be built in Novonikolayevsk, the former name of Novosibirsk, the cathedral was built as a monument to Tsar Alexander III after his death.
Ice Skating and Ice Town in Novosibirsk
Siberia becomes a winter wonderland during the colder months of the year, blanketed in a thick layer of snow and ice. While the cold can be a little daunting for most visitors, Novosibirsk transforms itself in the winter, if you don't mind wrapping up a little extra it's worth visiting during this time. You'll find a number of venues and public spaces transformed into places for ice skating and winter activities around Novosibirsk. Novosibirsk Central Park is one of the most popular ice skating spots in the city and has places renting skating shoes and equipment nearby.

Novosibirsk Railway Station
Usually the first port of call for those using the Trans-Siberian Railway, Novosibirsk railway station is one of the largest and most impressive stations in Russia. The beautiful architecture and design, both inside and out, makes the station itself one of the best attractions in Novosibirsk, even if you're not traveling by train, it's unmissable on a trip to the city.
Outdoor Architecture and History Museum, Akademgorodok
Located just outside of Novosibirsk, next to the town of Akademgorodok, this fascinating museum offers a few pieces of historic buildings, the centerpiece which is a wooden church built over 300 years ago. The Log Church of the Savior was once a part of the small town of Zashiversk, however after the residents all died from smallpox, the town was abandoned and lost. Rediscovered in 1969, the church was still in a surprisingly good condition and was airlifted in parts to the current site near Novosibirsk.
Museum for Railway Technology Novosibirsk
The second largest railway museum in Russia, Novosibirsk's Museum for Railway Technology offers plenty to see, especially for those that want to see and know more about the Siberian railways. Featuring trains throughout history that once traversed the vast expanses of Siberia and beyond, it's a must for railway enthusiasts. The Museum of the History of West Siberian Railway next to the main station is another interesting museum that's worth checking out if you're itching for more.
Siberian Maldives
A bright colored lake just outside the city of Novosibirsk, known as the Siberian Maldives (Sibirskiye Mal'divy), this spot has quickly become a viral Instagram spot for its vibrant blue hue. Just make sure not to actually touch the water, it's a result of waste chemicals reacting with the water and can cause irritation on the skin.
Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre
The largest theater in Russia, the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre has been one of the most important centers for the arts its completion in 1944. Often called the Siberian Coliseum due to its size and splendor, the building is beautiful especially when it's lit up during the evening.
