Airbnb, a popular accommodation site around the world, has released a list of trending destinations being searched for trips in 2021 by users in the US. These ten cites and travel spots around the world are evoking wanderlust for all the right reasons.

Ischia, Italy

A volcanic island a short boat ride from the southern Italian city of Naples, Ischia offers everything you'd want in a Mediterranean island, beautiful golden beaches, calm azure waters and picturesque coastal towns. Along with the impressive Castello Aragonese, an Italian castle that sits dramatically on the side of a cliff.

Ischia is still not quite as popular as the neighboring island of Capri, which is much more developed and attracts tourists from all over Europe.

Due to the presence of volcanoes on the island, there are a number of natural hot springs on Ischia that offer the ultimate relaxation. Best of all, most of them are free to use.

Maine, US

Ski resorts, beaches and quaint seaside towns along the coast, Maine has a lot going for it. Hidden away right in the far eastern corner of the US, Maine has never really been a major tourism destination, but as travelers start to seek lesser known places to visit, that's starting to change.

Maafushi, Maldives

The Maldives has long been known as one of the most beautiful island destinations on earth but unfortunately it usually comes at a cost. While the private islands and resorts around the Maldives can be quite pricey, the Maldivian island of Maafushi has plenty of budget options to stay at, allowing for a much more affordable vacation in the Maldives. As you'd expect from the Maldives, the beaches on Maafushi are beautiful and the surrounding ocean is perfect for swimming around.

Despite being a short drive from Tijuana and the United States-Mexico border, La Misión is a world away from the nightlife haven and unpredictable Mexican city. This laid-back hillside village is usually ignored as most visitors drive further down the coast to Ensenada or other places in Baja California. However just outside the town you'll find a long stretch of golden beach with plenty of space, friendly locals and things to do. Most importantly La Mision Beach is clean and perfectly safe.

Hampton, London
