What is Yokohama Landmark Tower? Facility Information and Highlights
1. What is Yokohama Landmark Tower?

Yokohama Landmark Tower is Japan’s second-tallest skyscraper, following Abeno Harukas in Osaka. With its distinctive design, it has appeared in many films and TV dramas and is a popular tourist attraction. The building has 70 floors and stands 296.33 meters tall. On the 69th floor is the Sky Garden, an observation deck, while the lower floors are occupied by the shopping mall “Landmark Plaza,” which is bustling with visitors on weekends.
Although many offices are housed in Yokohama Landmark Tower, it is also home to the “Minato Mirai Relay Station” for television broadcasts. Additionally, the “Dockyard Garden,” an event space that hosts various events, is a restored and preserved port facility known as Yokohama Shinku. Although not widely known, it was designated as an Important Cultural Property by the national government in 1997. Yokohama Landmark Tower is at the forefront of modern trends while also boasting historical significance—a dual appeal that makes it even more enjoyable to explore.
2. Observation Floor “Sky Garden”

Located on the 69th floor of Yokohama Landmark Tower, the Sky Garden is positioned 273 meters above ground. It is one of the must-visit spots in Yokohama. From this 360-degree panoramic observation deck, you can enjoy sweeping views of Yokohama, and on clear days you may even see Tokyo Tower, Skytree, or Mount Fuji. The nighttime view is as dazzling as glittering jewels, making it a popular spot for dates.
Particularly on Christmas or during fireworks festivals, many people gather at the Landmark Tower to view the nightscape and fireworks. However, New Year’s Day is the busiest time of all. Watching the first sunrise of the year from such a vantage point would be a wonderful way to start the year. In addition, the “Tower Shop” on the 69th floor offers exclusive souvenirs that can only be purchased here—so you might just find something unique.
3. Shopping at “Landmark Plaza”

Adjacent to Yokohama Landmark Tower is the enormous shopping mall “Landmark Plaza.” With a total length of 200 meters and a five-story atrium, the building itself is worth admiring. It is organized around “Sakata no Tane Garden Square,” a soothing space filled with flowers and greenery, and “Festival Square,” which offers a more casual atmosphere.
With 170 stores including fashion and accessory shops, general merchandise, furniture, toy and character shops, as well as numerous restaurants and cafés, this sprawling mall is popular not only with tourists but also with locals. Enjoy some window shopping and sample the gourmet food on offer.
4. Yokohama Royal Park Hotel

The Yokohama Royal Park Hotel is a luxurious high-rise hotel located within the Landmark Tower. Its guest rooms occupy floors 52 through 67, with the highest rooms at 210 meters—the highest hotel rooms in Japan. From these floors, you can enjoy breathtaking views of Yokohama’s nightscape, and the European-style gorgeous interior will leave you in awe. This lavish space is perfect for celebrating a special occasion.

Furthermore, floors 60 to 67 have been renovated and are known as the “Sky Resort Floor.” “The Top” on the 67th floor, “The Club” on floors 65–66, and “Atelier” on floors 60–64 offer views of Yokohama’s sea and nightscape that will make you feel as if you’re in a movie.
5. Restaurants and Cafés
At Yokohama Landmark Tower, you can enjoy a variety of restaurants and cafés. From chain stores to gourmet offerings available exclusively on-site, there is something for everyone. A wealth of sweets such as pancakes and gelato is also available. Whether you’re in the mood for a luxurious meal, a casual break at a chic café or bakery, or even some well-deserved B-grade gourmet treats, there’s plenty to choose from.
True to Yokohama’s character, there are many Chinese restaurants and ramen shops. In addition to Japanese and Western cuisine, you’ll find options like yakiniku, deep-fried skewers, yakitori, beer bars, okonomiyaki, beef tongue dishes, and buffets—ensuring that visitors of all ages will be delighted.
Among these, “Sky Café,” located on the 69th floor, is particularly popular.
Dining here with a view of the breathtaking scenery is an unforgettable experience. The café also offers exclusive original drinks and cocktails, and sometimes hosts limited-time events. With couple seating that offers views of Yokohama’s nightscape, it’s a popular spot for dates—so be sure to make a reservation if you plan to visit.
6. Dockyard Garden

Dockyard Garden is an outdoor space that hosts various events including live concerts, promotional events, and more. It was created by restoring the “Former Yokohama Shipyard No. 2 Dock,” the oldest stone dock for merchant ships in Japan, which is now designated as an Important Cultural Property.
Originally active since 1897, the dock’s role diminished as ships grew larger, and it was closed in 1973. However, local efforts to preserve it led to the restoration of Dockyard Garden in 1993, coinciding with the opening of Yokohama Landmark Tower. Looking up at Landmark Tower from Dockyard Garden enhances the sense of height, and it has become a popular local spot to relax and appreciate the maritime history.
7. Events at Landmark Tower

Yokohama Landmark Tower hosts a variety of events throughout the year. During Christmas, the tower is adorned with a giant Christmas tree and features a different theme each year, attracting many shoppers. Illumination displays are also popular during the winter season.

In addition, live concerts, sports live viewings, local product fairs, car shows, and character events are held at various times. Whether you’re visiting specifically for an event or just curious about what’s happening, it’s worth checking out any events that catch your eye while you’re there.
