Hong Kong’s Trendsetting Hub! Recommended Tourist Spots in the SOHO Area

1. Photogenic Wall Art

Throughout SOHO, you’ll find wall art everywhere. From retro, Chinese-style art to pop, Western-inspired pieces, the area offers a diverse range that will captivate you as you wander the streets. Art enthusiasts should also consider popping into the local galleries.
One famous piece that frequently appears in travel guides is “Old Houses of Hong Kong,” which depicts a row of colorful houses under a brilliant blue sky. Located near the intersection of Graham Street (Gaah Haam Street) and Hollywood Road (Ho Lei Wat Dou), it’s a must-see—and don’t forget your camera!

2. For Shopping: PMQ in SOHO

When it comes to shopping in SOHO, PMQ comes highly recommended. Formerly used as Police Married Quarters (named after "Police Married Quarters"), this building now houses more than 100 tenant shops. Many visitors spend most of their day here exploring.

While at PMQ, be sure to visit "Gung Fu Tea House," where you can enjoy authentic Chinese tea. With on-site tea art instructors offering tastings and advice, and beautifully designed packaging that makes for great souvenirs, it’s well worth a visit. Keep an eye out for seasonal limited-edition packages as well.

3. A Stylish Café Blending into the Chic Streets – "Tom Dixon" Shop

Central, home to SOHO, has long been an area where Western expats have lived, which is why it’s filled with brand-name shops and stylish cafés. While traditional Hong Kong tea restaurants (cha chaan teng) are popular, here we introduce the café at the world-renowned interior design brand "Tom Dixon."

The "Tom Dixon Shop" features a general merchandise store on its grand floor, and a café on the first floor. At the café, your coffee is served in Tom Dixon’s signature glassware, and the interior décor is a testament to Tom Dixon’s meticulous design. The photogenic setting is sure to lift your spirits.

And since the famous wall art "Old Houses of Hong Kong" is nearby, you can combine both attractions for a perfect outing—a great spot to relax during your sightseeing.

4. Hong Kong SOHO’s Recommended Restaurant: "Bistecca Italian Steak House"

In the SOHO area, where foreigners have lived for generations, you’ll find an array of restaurants offering Italian, French, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Mexican, and Indian cuisines. While you can choose based on your mood or appetite, we recommend "Bistecca Italian Steak House" as a restaurant loved by all ages.

Bistecca is located a short walk away in the "Lan Kwai Fong" area, a district famous for its nightclubs and bars that buzz with young people and tourists at night.

As its name suggests, Bistecca serves Italian-style steak, featuring premium beef imported from around the world, cooked to your preferred doneness. Its side dishes—including salads, pasta, and desserts—are also highly praised, which explains why many customers become repeat visitors. Its reasonable pricing is an added bonus.

5. The World’s Longest Escalator? "Hillside Escalators"

An essential part of touring Central is the "Hillside Escalators" (also known as the Central-Mid-Levels Escalators), located about a 7–8 minute walk from MTR Central Station. Boasting a total length of an astonishing 800 meters, it is said to be the world’s longest outdoor covered escalator system. Comprising 23 escalators in sequence, a full ride takes roughly 23 minutes.

While it’s fun to take detours and explore the surrounding steps, if you’re in Hong Kong, you must experience this escalator. You can choose to disembark at any point along the way depending on your destination.
However, note that at certain times the escalators may be designated for one-way use only, so be sure to check the schedule before you ride.

◎ In Conclusion: Central (Zhonghuan) is Full of Fun Tourist Spots!

SOHO is located in Hong Kong Island’s Central district. The nearest MTR station is Central Station (Exit D2). Although the Airport Express connects Hong Kong Station and Central Station, be aware that it’s a bit of a walk from Hong Kong Station. The Central area is packed with shopping malls and gourmet spots, making it an ideal area for tourists. So, take this opportunity to explore and enjoy everything that Central has to offer!
