“The Sauna” in Lake Nojiri, Nagano, Celebrates Its 1st Anniversary! Exploring the Charm of an Authentic Finnish Outdoor Sauna

What is "The Sauna"?

The Sauna is a Finnish-style sauna project at Lake Nojiri, Nagano Prefecture, born from a crowdfunding campaign. With strong support and enthusiasm, the dream became a reality—featuring a handcrafted log sauna cabin made from Japanese cypress and an authentic wood-burning sauna stove.

Located beside the scenic Lake Nojiri, this one-of-a-kind wood-fired sauna is nestled among the 2,000-meter peaks of Mount Kurohime and Mount Myoko. At night, the sky transforms into a breathtaking panorama of stars. Adjacent to Guesthouse LAMP Nojiri, this sauna offers an authentic Finnish experience—far from the conventional Japanese sauna. With its natural setting and traditional sauna setup, visitors may feel as if they have been transported to Finland.

After sweating it out in the handcrafted log sauna, take a thrilling plunge into a natural cold water bath with pure flowing spring water. In winter, the experience becomes even more exhilarating—dive into the freshly fallen snow for an ultimate refresh!

Unwind on the wooden terrace, surrounded by serene forests, as you enjoy the ultimate outdoor air bath. This is the perfect place to experience "totonou", the deep relaxation and mental clarity unique to the sauna ritual. Ready to discover the ultimate sauna escape?
