7 Popular Tourist Spots in Chiba City – With Excellent Access from the City Center!
1. Chiba City Zoological Park

Do you remember Fūta-kun, the red panda that became a sensation? Fūta-kun lives in the Chiba City Zoological Park, which has been loved by the residents of Chiba City since it opened in 1985. The sprawling park is divided into seven zones and is home to many animals—with a particular focus on 8 different species of primates.
Even though Fūta, now 15 years old (equivalent to around 80 in human years), is quite advanced in age and can no longer stand for long periods like before, he still shows plenty of vigor.
It’s even said that Fūta already has great-grandchildren!
Within the park, there are areas where you can interact with animals and feed them, as well as event corners, barbecue areas, and playgrounds, so there’s plenty to enjoy all day long. Although parking is available, consider riding the Chiba Urban Monorail to boost your sightseeing mood!
2. Forest Adventure
In recent years, the outdoor boom has made nature-based activities very popular. However, for city dwellers, enjoying activities in nature or even staying overnight can sometimes seem challenging. That’s where Forest Adventure comes in. True to its name, this is an obstacle course built right in the forest.
While some may think of an obstacle course as merely playground equipment for children, Forest Adventure features attractions that can rival those enjoyed by adults. In particular, the “Adventure Course” is designed for children in the fourth grade and older and offers the most challenging attractions available.
With 28 locations nationwide, Forest Adventure allows you to enjoy completely different scenery at each site. The Forest Adventure in Izumi Nature Park is adjacent to a plum grove and a garden famous for its autumn foliage, so in February and March you can enjoy the scent of plum blossoms, and in autumn, the vibrant reds of the leaves.

On clear days, you can see as far as Mount Fuji or Mount Tsukuba. The tower is especially beautiful at sunset and at night, so plan your visit from dusk onward. However, be aware that it can become very crowded on days when events such as the Chiba City Fireworks Festival or Christmas events are held.
There’s also a plaza in front of the tower that hosts a free market every third Sunday of the month. This popular event is open to everyone who applies in advance. Stroll through the park and you might even find a hidden gem!

Additionally, if you caress the “Kameiwa” further in, good fortune is said to follow.
Other attractions include Chiba Tenjin, dedicated to the god of learning, and a row of 12 sets of smaller shrines known as Sesshu-sha. Each location is said to provide unique blessings. Isn’t it romantic to think of a deity of the stars?
