1. Ideal for a Drive! "Shioya Ohashi" Bridge with a Panoramic View of the Island
The Shioya Ohashi Bridge is located over Shioya Bay in Daeguimura and is an important bridge that still connects Miyagi Island and Shioya. Originally, the center of the bridge was painted red and was a beloved arch-type Langer Bridge for the local residents. However, the red bridge, which beautifully blended with the rich nature of Daeguimura, became aged and deteriorated. The current bridge is the second-generation Shioya Ohashi Bridge.
Although the second-generation bridge is not painted red, it offers a refreshing drive across Shioya Bay, making it a perfect driving course! Driving across the bridge while enjoying the view of the sky and sea will surely relieve any stress. There is also free parking near the base of the bridge, making it a great spot to take a break during your sightseeing in Daeguimura.
2. Experience Okinawa’s Traditional Craft at "Daeguimura Bashofu Hall"
Okinawa is home to many unique woven crafts, and one of the oldest among them is Bashofu. In Daeguimura, the Kijoka area is a specialty region for Bashofu. It has such historical significance that it has been designated as an Important Intangible Cultural Asset by the government.
Bashofu Hall was established with the mission of ensuring that Bashofu weaving does not fade away, and it serves as a facility to train successors and is also a communal workspace for artisans. Visitors can see the process of making Bashofu and watch videos of how the fabric is created. The second floor is a workspace, but pets are allowed on the first floor. Admission is free, so it’s definitely worth a visit!

3. A Must-Visit for Fans of Shikwasa! "Daeguimura Shikwasa Park"
Okinawa is home to tropical fruit-themed parks like Pineapple Park and Fruit Land, and here in Daeguimura, there's also a unique spot called "Daeguimura Shikwasa Park."
At this park, visitors can enjoy shikwasa juice from taps, try a variety of shikwasa juices harvested each month, and fully immerse themselves in the world of shikwasa. During the harvest season, you can even take a free tour of the juice-making factory. The park also has fun spots for children, including an adventure tunnel and grassy spaces, making it an ideal tourist destination for families.
The facility includes a restaurant where you can enjoy dishes like pizza and Okinawan Soki Soba. The park is small enough to explore in a short amount of time, so it’s a great place to stop by during your sightseeing.

4. Packed with Seasonal Ingredients! Enjoy a Meal While Viewing a Waterfall at "Michi-no-Eki Oogimi"
Head north on National Route 58 and enter Daeguimura, and you’ll soon find "Michi-no-Eki Oogimi." This roadside station, surrounded by peaceful nature, offers local specialties, fresh seasonal vegetables, fruits, and processed products for sale.
The direct-sales store offers ingredients from Daeguimura as well as produce from farmers in the northern part of Okinawa. Among the popular items is the Daeguimura-grown Akatsuchi Daikon, a larger and thicker type of radish that is naturally sweet even when eaten raw. If you're looking for a souvenir, dried daikon is available year-round.
There are two dining areas at "Michi-no-Eki Oogimi," with the second-floor restaurant "Miyubyu" known for its exceptional soba. You can enjoy delicious 100% buckwheat soba while gazing out at the sea of Daeguimura. Additionally, you can view the Utagawa (Wega) waterfall from the back of the station, making it a great sightseeing spot as well.

5. Experience an Adventurous Feel! "Taa Waterfall" Surrounded by Subtropical Forests and Healing Spots
If you're looking to enjoy trekking in the nature-rich Daeguimura, "Taa Waterfall" is a must-visit. Taa Waterfall is located upstream from the Hirahama River Bridge on National Route 58 that runs through Daeguimura.
As you follow the road, you will see a sign for the Taa Waterfall entrance. From the entrance to the waterfall, there is no paved path; you will need to walk through the river and over rocky paths. Most of the river is knee-deep, so as long as you proceed carefully, you will eventually reach the waterfall. Once you’ve worked your way through, the waterfall appears, surrounded by a subtropical forest, offering a truly breathtaking scene. In the summer, you can even swim in the waterfall's pool, making it a perfect spot for those looking for an adventurous sightseeing experience.

6. Encounter Natural Monuments? "The Mysterious Kijoka Seven Waterfalls"
The "Kijoka no Nanataki" (Kijoka Seven Waterfalls) is located to the southeast of the Kijoka settlement in Daeguimura. At the entrance, you’ll find a torii gate, and from there, you will walk to the waterfalls. A short walk will bring you to the left side where the waterfall is located, and on the right side, there’s a place of worship, making the area a sacred spot, well-known in northern Okinawa as a power spot.
The waterfall is named the Seven Waterfalls because it has seven streams, and locals refer to it as "Nandagi." It is not as large as the Taa Waterfall but offers a peaceful and mysterious atmosphere.
Additionally, species like the Okinawa box turtle (Ryukyu Yamagama) and the Okinawa red-faced bunting (Hontou Akahige), which have been designated as natural monuments of Okinawa, inhabit the area, so if you’re lucky, you may encounter them! Since this is a sacred place for the locals, be sure to follow proper etiquette when visiting.
