What are the tourist spots on Tinian Island? The “Tinian Blue” sea is a must-see!

1. Taga Beach

Taga Beach is the most popular tourist spot on Tinian. This spot is said to have been the private beach of the ancient Taga dynasty, and it features a beautiful beach with a crystal-clear sea known as "Tinian Blue." It became popular with tourists after being used as a filming location for commercials.

Although it is not very large, it is an inlet surrounded by rocky areas, giving it a strong sense of privacy. In fact, when the tide is high, the sandy beach disappears into the sea. The scenery at sunset is particularly exceptional and very popular among tourists. On weekends, local children come and you can watch them jump into the sea from the rocks.

2. Tachonga Beach

While Taga Beach is a very private beach, Tachonga Beach is a fun beach for families. There are plenty of marine sports available, and snorkeling is also an enjoyable activity. In contrast to Taga Beach, which has many rocky areas, Tachonga Beach features a continuous stretch of white sand, making it safe for small children to play.

At Tachonga Beach, you can enjoy various activities such as banana boat rides, jet skiing, sea turtle tours, fishing, and snorkeling. There are also free restrooms and showers available, which is convenient. Nearby, there are hotels where you can take a break.

3. Chulu Beach

Famous for its star sand, Chulu Beach is a small beach located in the northwestern part of Tinian Island. The shallow waters allow you to walk far when the tide is low.

Although Chulu Beach offers a peaceful landscape, it is actually located in an area that was a fierce battleground during the Pacific War. It is also known as "Landing Beach" because the American forces landed there. Nearby, there is a concrete pillbox built by the former Japanese military, and it is said that battles were fought from within it against the American forces coming from the sea.

4. Dump Cove

Dump Cove is a famous diving spot in Tinian. Turtles inhabit the area, and you have a high chance of encountering them. As you move from the quiet bay toward the open sea, you can see remnants of tanks, vehicles, and airplanes dumped during the Pacific War.

Some of the wrecks have deposits of rust, and there is a risk that if you pick them up from the sea, they could catch fire. Although you can only see these by diving, it is a tourist spot worth recommending as a place where the scars of war remain.

5. Tide Blow

Tide Blow, also known as "Blow Hole" in Tinian, is a tourist spot. This is a place where a powerful water column shoots up forcefully from cracks in the rocky area. On days when the wind is strong and the waves are high, the water gushes up with great force. You can get close, so be sure to wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet.

Tide Blow is located north along the Broadway that runs north-south through the center of the island. Broadway is the main street of the island and, being a straight road, it is very convenient to get around.
