1. Cathedral of the Holy Trinity

The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity is considered a symbol of Žilina. Located in the eastern part of the old town, it is a must-visit site for tourists.
The cathedral has burned down three times in its history. Originally built in the Gothic style, it was later reconstructed in the Renaissance style, giving it its current appearance. As the city’s main monument, it is always bustling with visitors.
2. Marianske Square

Budatin Castle currently serves as the Povazie Museum. Although it’s not a grand or flashy castle, you can enjoy a 360-degree panoramic view of the Žilina area from its round tower.
There is also a fountain park on the castle grounds, making it an ideal place for a leisurely stroll. Located across the river from the old town, it is beloved by both tourists and locals as a relaxing spot.

4. Lietava Castle

Lietava Castle is a vast ruin situated atop a mountain on the southern outskirts of Žilina. Though now in ruins, you can hike to the top and enjoy impressive views from the site. The castle was originally built in the 13th century and was already uninhabited by 1698.

5. Andrej Hlinka Square
Andrej Hlinka Square is located right in front of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. The view of the cathedral from around the singing fountain in this square is simply stunning and is known as one of the best photo spots in Žilina’s old town.

6. Church of Saint Paul the Apostle

7. Burian Tower

Standing next to the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, the Burian Tower is a popular spot for panoramic views of Žilina. After a fire, it was rebuilt in 1941 and equipped with a panoramic observation deck, which remains today.
