1. Museum of the Weird

The name ‘museum of the weird’ is rather intriguing.It is suitable for people who fancy the strange and macabre.There is a tour of the museum that lets you experience every aspect of the place and get into all the rooms to see the various displays.You will get to see bizarre creatures such as aliens and zombie-like people.There is also a shop where you can scoop yourself some souvenirs such as stickers, patches and other horror movie themed merchandise.Aside from the museum and the shop, there is a modern-day freak show where you will see an outstanding gentleman with the ability to handle dangerous amounts of electricity.Entrance and a tour will draw you back $12 but really worth a look when sightseeing in Austin.

2. Barton Creek Greenbelt

The barton creek Greenbelt is a beautiful creek found in the heart of Austin.This beautiful tourist attraction features some brilliant white riverbed rocks with plenty of activities that are carried out along the creek.There are various hiking trails from simple to strenuous ones that people hike for several miles to enjoy the beautiful surroundings.Some people get to enjoy the waters as there is a shop nearby that rents out kayaks and boards.

3. McKinney Falls State Park

This beautiful park is filled with waterfalls, hiking trails, swimming holes, hiking trails, and camping sites. This popular sightseeing monument is underrated. There are various ways of going around the park either through biking, hiking or ride sharing. Entrance to the park Is an average $6 per person. Which is cash only passed 4:30 pm. It's hard to believe that you are inside the city limits of Austin. You really don't realize it when inside the park. We will be coming here often.

4. Zilker Botanical Garden

The Zilker Botanical Garden is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon.The garden is home to thousands of plant species and rose gardens. Beautiful butterflies can be found here too. The place favours seniors by offering them a beautiful place to unwind. The best time for to visit is around spring when the flowers are blooming. Remember to carry some bug spray for the mosquitoes.

5. Mayfield–Gutsch Estate

Mayfield–Gutsch Estate is a beautiful sightseeing park in Austin. It is one of Austin's family-friendly places for a picnic. The estate is blessed with beautiful trails, peacocks, water lilies in ponds and the scenery leading to the creek is breathtaking. Aside from carrying some sunflower seeds for the peacocks, do get some photographs taken in this beautiful background. Remember to also check when bee season starts as it may not be pleasant.

6. Graffiti Park at Castle Hill

Graffiti Park at Castle Hill also known as AKA HOPE Outdoor Gallery is not a park as one may assume, this magical art paradise set on a hillside overlooking the city is just is a group of concrete walls covered in some artsy graffiti. These concrete walls were once a concrete foundation of an abandoned condo development.The walls have been acting as a canvas for graffiti artists for a while now.The Hope outdoor gallery runs on several levels which are available to tourists.This sightseeing marvel is famous for photo ops and picnics.Entrance is free and plenty of parking space available on the ground level.Spare your time to see this amazing evolving artwork!

7. Austin 360 Bridge (Pennybacker Bridge)

The Pennybacker Bridge is one of Austin’s most famous landmarks.This bridge is very popular with photographers and tourists who come for sightseeing activities around Austin.The bridge offers such as scenic-view from every angle. One may also opt for a walk and actually cross over the river. Some people take part in various water activities below the bridge.It will take you about 5 minutes to go around the bridge.You can also find some biking and hiking trails.There is parking outside the park but some people break the rules and park at the beginning of the bridge.

8. Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve

Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve is a great option for hiking, picnicking or dog walking.The trails around are well marked for tourists making them easy to hike.The terrain is also conducive however some may find it challenging because of its elevation changes but this makes the hike worth it.Some benches are available along the way for hikers who may need a rest.There is a small waterfall and pool that make the scenery nice however dogs like to play with the puddle.The best time for sightseeing is morning hours towards noon when the weather is favourable.It is good to note that Sunday is a very busy day for the Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve.

9. Peter Pan Mini-Golf

Peter Pan Mini-Golf is self-explainable as a fun peter pan themed miniature golf course.
It features 36 holes in total having 18 in each of the courses.The course, however, can be a bit challenging as it is outdated but this makes it more fun.The most challenging of them being the west course.The themes golf courses have some remarkable decorations such as a huge peter pan, Lighthouse, a whale and even a dinosaur! There are much more but these are the most outstanding features.Entrance to the park is $7 per person.

10. Texas Military Forces Museum

The Texas Military Forces Museum is located in the camp Mabry complex.This museum is a great sightseeing the ground for tourists who wish to see some great collections of world war two things among other historical memorabilia dating before the Alamo and into Afghanistan.The museum gives tourists a sense of the defense values of the Texas military men and women.There are lots of items to see both indoor and outdoor.The outdoor however has some more interesting stuff to see, There are some military tanks which you can climb and experience. Since there are no tour guides, the tour is self-paced and you can spend as much time learning about this beautiful place.Entrance is free but donations are welcomed.
