Small yet full of character, Sonoratown is an institute in the downtown area, famous for their carne asada tacos in Northern Mexican style. The menu is small with just a few items, but everything is made to perfection with fresh ingredients. The wait can be a little long at peak times due to its central location, but it's worth it for some of the best tacos you'll find north of Mexico.

Guelaguetza Restaurante

Specializing in the delicious food of Oaxaca, Guelaguetza is easily one of the most famous restaurants in LA, an achievement they've managed to hold onto for years. Started in 1994 by a Mexican couple, the restaurant's goal was to showcase Oaxacan culture and authentic dishes from the region, which is known as one of the most famous cuisines of Mexico. With a huge menu of Oaxacan classics, Guelaguetza does well to give every dish the same amount of care and love that shows in its flavor.

If you're a advocate of seafood, Holbox is the place to go. With a nod from the Michelin guide, Holbox offers delicious raw and cooked seafood dishes prepared Yucatan-style.
