Medan : The Pearl of Sumatra Island

Medan is located in the north of Sumatra Island and its northern capital. The City of Medan is the third largest city in Indonesia after Jakarta and Surabaya, and it is the largest city outside Java Island. The city has a population of over 2 million. Istana Maimoon is one of the largest historical landmarks in Medan. It was built in 1988 by Maimon Sultan who died on September 9, 1924. The building has an area of 2722 square meters and it consists of 30 rooms. The building includes a unique collection of designs of Islamic, Malay, Spanish, Indian, and Italian cultural heritage. It is composed of two floors divided into three parts. In addition, there is a special room for the coronation of the Sultan. 4. North Sumatra Museum

The North Sumatra Museum is one of the tourist destinations in the city of Medan. The museum was established in 1982 by Ministry of Education and Culture. The museum is considered the largest museum in North Sumatra including a large number of crafts and cultural heritage of Indonesia. The museum has a collection of 6,799 artworks that date back to Hindu, Buddhist and Islamic civilizations that settled in the city. 5. Taman Buaya Asam Kumbang

7. Kampung Keling

Kampung Keling (also called Madras) is the name for an area of about 10 hectares in Medan, Indonesia that once had a large Indian community. This area has the oldest Hindu temple in Medan, Sri Mariamman Temple and the largest temple in Medan, Vihara Gunung Timur. In addition, there is also a Khalsa School (Sikh School, now Khalsa English School), which was once the only school for learning English in Medan. The area was originally called "Patisah", but later changed the name to "Kampung Madras" to reflect the land of the Indian descendants residing there.
