2. Ban Chiang Archaeological Site

The Ban Chiang Archaeological Site caused a major stir upon its discovery, as it was initially believed to be the world's oldest agricultural civilization, dating back 5,000 to 7,000 years BCE. However, later research revised this estimate to around 3,600 BCE. Despite this adjustment, much remains unknown about the site, making it a fascinating and enigmatic location.

Regardless of the exact timeline, Ban Chiang is undoubtedly one of the oldest known Southeast Asian civilizations, providing invaluable insight into ancient life. Artifacts from the site are displayed at the Ban Chiang National Museum, located just a 10-minute walk from the excavation site.

3. Phu Phra Bat Historical Park

Phu Phra Bat Historical Park is a vast historical park located in the northwest of Udon Thani. The park features trekking trails where visitors can enjoy nature, including fascinating mushroom-shaped rock formations sculpted over time by natural erosion.

Many visitors describe it as heavenly, and in fact, the name Talay Bua Daeng translates to "Red Lotus Sea."
