Nagasaki Seagrass Beach (Glass Sand Beach) – A Beautiful Coast Near Nagasaki Airport

What is Nagasaki Seagrass Beach (Glass Sand Beach)?

Nagasaki Seagrass Beach is situated within Morizono Park in Omura City.
The glass fragments were intentionally laid down in 2016 using recycled glass to improve the water quality in Omura Bay.

Before that, algae had proliferated and caused a foul odor, but the installation of the glass fragments has brought about significant improvement.

The beach features glass fragments in various colors that sparkle beautifully in the sunlight, making it a popular spot for young people aiming for Instagram-worthy photos.

Although the edges of the glass have been smoothed, it is still advisable not to walk barefoot to avoid any injuries.

Access to Nagasaki Seagrass Beach (Glass Sand Beach)

It is located less than a 5-minute drive from Nagasaki Airport, and you can even walk there from the airport. If you are coming by bus from Omura Station or Nagasaki Airport, you should get off at the "Sun Spa Omura" bus stop and walk for about 5 minutes.

For those driving or renting a car from the Fukuoka area, the beach is accessible on the way toward Nagasaki Airport via the Omura Interchange.

There is no dedicated parking lot, so please use the parking lot at Morizono Park (which has 108 spaces and is free).

In addition to being an essential piece of infrastructure connecting Nagasaki’s remote islands such as Iki, Tsushima, and the Goto Islands for locals, it also functions as an international airport linked with Shanghai.

From the 3rd-floor observation deck, you can view departing and arriving airplanes, and on the 1st and 2nd floors, you can enjoy Nagasaki specialties such as Turkish Rice, Goto Udon, and the Tsushima Ton-chan Set Meal.

Moreover, the business lounge “Azalea” offers a comfortable space to spend time before departure or after arrival.
