1. Enjoy an Intellectual and Mature Date at "Ouchi-juku" in Fukushima
Located about 15 minutes by car from Yunokami Onsen Station on the Aizu Railway Line, Ouchi-juku is a historic post town. Designated as an Important Traditional Buildings Preservation District by the Japanese government, just one look at Ouchi-juku makes you feel as if you've stepped back in time.
Along the approximately 500-meter-long street, over 30 traditional thatched-roof houses line the path, preserving the atmosphere of the Edo period. Each house is now a restaurant, souvenir shop, or inn, allowing visitors to experience the traditional way of life.
A must-try dish at one of the restaurants is Negi Soba (Takato Soba). When served, you'll be surprised to see a whole green onion placed on top of the soba! Interestingly, there are no chopsticks—yes, you use the green onion to eat the soba. It's quite challenging, making it a fun experience for couples.
For a unique date with historical charm and delicious food, Ouchi-juku is a perfect spot. Don't forget to ask why the green onion is used as a utensil!
2. A Relaxing Walk on the Sea! "Iwaki Day Cruise" – A Perfect Date Spot in Fukushima
Located about 20 minutes by car from Iwaki Yumoto Interchange or 20 minutes by bus from Izumi Station, Iwaki Day Cruise offers a delightful sea adventure. Cruises depart every hour from 10 AM to 2 PM on weekdays and from 10 AM to 3 PM on weekends and holidays, with each full course lasting 50 minutes (other routes are also available).
Board the large sightseeing ship "Phoenix" and set sail on a journey around Onahama Bay. This course allows visitors to learn about the history of modern Onahama Port while getting a close-up view of the port island construction. The breathtaking seasonal landscapes of the Abukuma Mountains can also be admired from the ship.
One of the highlights of the cruise is the seagulls and black-tailed gulls that follow the ship! Their main interest? Shrimp crackers! You can buy shrimp crackers on board and try feeding the birds, which can be an exciting and thrilling experience for couples.
Why not spend your next date in a more elegant setting on the sea?

3. A Classic Date Spot! Enjoy Watching and Touching Sea Life at "Aquamarine Fukushima"
Located about 15 minutes by bus from JR Joban Line Izumi Station (get off at "Shisho Iriguchi" and walk 10 minutes), Aquamarine Fukushima is one of the top-ranked attractions in Fukushima and a highly recommended date spot.
This aquarium offers more than just exhibits—you can actually touch some of the fish! The most exciting attraction is the triangular tunnel, which provides a 180-degree view of the aquarium, making it feel like you're looking up from beneath the ocean. The glowing, mystical scenery is sure to captivate visitors. Additionally, the dynamic feeding sessions of Steller sea lions and spotted seals will leave you both in awe and excitement.
On sunny days, bringing a homemade lunch to enjoy at the nearby Misaki Park is a great idea. Depending on the season, you can also enjoy events such as fireworks festivals, autumn foliage light-ups, and illuminations, making it a perfect year-round date spot!

4. A Relaxing Date Spot! The Crystal Clear "Lake Inawashiro"
Located about 15 minutes by Bandai Toto Bus (Nagahama/Kin no Hashi Line) from JR Ban'etsu West Line Inawashiro Station, Lake Inawashiro is Japan’s fourth-largest lake. It is also famous for its exceptional transparency, making it one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.
This stunning clarity is due to the lake’s unique weak acidity, which limits the presence of plankton. Thanks to this, the surrounding forests and natural scenery are beautifully reflected on the water’s surface, creating breathtaking views. One of the highlights of the lake is the "Shibuki Ice" in winter—a natural, artistic phenomenon where ice forms in spectacular shapes along the shore. It’s definitely worth seeing at least once!
There are also sightseeing cruises and water sports such as wakeboarding, making this a versatile date spot. Since the lake’s scenery changes with each season, you can enjoy a unique and unforgettable experience no matter when you visit.
