The Hidden Megacity of Northern India | Tourist Spots in Kanpur!

Kanpur was known as "Kanpore" during the British colonial period and was a quiet, undeveloped rural village. In 1818, the last Prime Minister of the Maratha Kingdom, Bajirao II, spent his later years here, and the city rapidly developed thereafter, eventually growing into one of India’s major metropolises.

As you can gather from this history, Kanpur is a relatively new city with only about 200 years of history. It does not boast an abundance of historic, ancient buildings, yet it is a large city with a population of over 2.8 million. With the population still growing, it will continue to develop further!
