Utapao, Home of Bangkok’s 3rd International Airport – Recommended Tourist Spots
1. Utapao International Airport
Utapao International Airport is located adjacent to the Utapao Naval Air Base, which is owned by the Royal Thai Navy. Its official name is "Utapao Rayong Pattaya International Airport." As the name implies, it takes about 1 hour by car to reach the famous resort city of Pattaya, and it is always bustling with vacationing tourists. In recent years, in addition to domestic flights, international routes have begun operating to destinations such as Malaysia, China, Singapore, and Qatar. With new terminal buildings being added, this airport is poised for further development as Bangkok’s third international airport.
2. Thai Island and Sea Natural History Museum
The Thai Island and Sea Natural History Museum is a nature museum located near Utapao. A unique aspect of the visit is the experience of ascending a lush hill and exploring three different buildings. In the first building, you will find exhibits on the activities of His Royal Highness Sirintorn, a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and promoter of the preservation of Thailand’s intangible cultural heritage, and learn about the origin of our planet’s seas and lands. The second building is dedicated to the forests and the flora and fauna, and the final building houses an observation deck. The view from the observation deck is absolutely stunning—a hidden gem known only to a select few. Utapao International Airport is about a 20-minute drive away, so be sure to stop by!

3. Sea Turtle Conservation Center
The Sea Turtle Conservation Center was established to protect and study Thailand's sea turtles, whose populations had been declining due to overharvesting and environmental damage. Managed by the Royal Thai Navy, the center takes a leading role in sea turtle conservation. Because it is located within a naval base, you will need to show identification at the entrance. The beach where the turtles come to nest is very well-maintained and beautiful. The baby sea turtles, carefully nurtured and hatched by the center, are absolutely adorable! Located about a 20‑minute drive from Utapao International Airport, this is a truly healing spot.
