Additionally, at Soba-dokoro Hanba-tei, you can enjoy traditional local cuisine. Dishes like Dengaku with Shimoguri potatoes and Konjac Dengaku are exquisite regional specialties. These meals can be enjoyed whether you are staying overnight or just visiting for the day.

Access to Shimoguri-no-Sato

Accessing Shimoguri-no-Sato can be quite challenging due to steep and winding roads, but it is mainly accessible by car.

The nearest expressway exit is the Chuo Expressway Iida IC. From there, it takes about 70 to 80 minutes via the Yahazu Tunnel.

There is also National Route 152 nearby. If you take this route, you’ll encounter a continuous series of narrow, winding curves known locally as the “kunekune” road. Be especially cautious when driving.

If you must use public transportation, take the Tooyama-go route bus from JR Iida Station (approx. 60 minutes) and get off at Kamimachi Bus Stop. From there, it’s about a 15-minute taxi ride.
