The perfect place to enjoy summer on Korea’s Hawaii—Jeju Island!
1. Hyeopjae Beach
When it comes to summer, the sea is a must! And when it comes to the sea on Jeju Island, it’s Hyeopjae Beach! Located next to Hallim Park, Hyeopjae Beach faces the scenic Biyang Island, creating a stunning natural landscape. The shallow, gentle-sloped beach with its bright cobalt-blue sea and white sand mixed with seashells is safe and enjoyable even for families with small children.
Facilities such as changing rooms, showers, restrooms, and resting areas are well equipped. The southwest side of Hyeopjae Beach connects to Geumneung Beach, allowing visitors to enjoy both beaches in one trip. There’s also a pine forest along the coast where camping is possible, so you can enjoy a full day of fun with Hyeopjae Beach, Geumneung Beach, and camping all together.
2. Udo Island
Located on the eastern side of Jeju Island, Udo Island is a Korean paradise that can be reached by ferry in about 15 minutes from Jeju. Here, you can enjoy scenic landscapes shaped by nature and tranquil rural scenery that feels more laid-back than the mainland. Thanks to its beauty, Udo is a popular filming location for Korean movies and dramas.
The island’s scenery is collectively known as the “Eight Scenic Views of Udo” — day and night (Daytime Moon and Nighttime Fishing Sails), heaven and earth (Tianjin Hill and Fingertip Sandy Beach), front and back (Jeonpo Island View and Huhwae Cliff), and east and west (East Coast Whale Cave and West Coast White Sand). No matter where you look, you’re surrounded by breathtaking views.
The name “Udo,” meaning “Cow Island,” comes from its shape, which resembles a cow lying down. The island is about 17 km around, and you can circle it in roughly 2 to 3 hours by bicycle—perfect for fully enjoying Udo’s natural beauty.
Among all the spots, the most recommended one is Seobinbaeksa (White Coral Sand Beach). It’s Udo’s most famous scenic spot, featuring a crystal-clear cobalt-blue sea and Korea’s only coral beach, making it truly captivating.
