Informatio About Yokohama Anpanman Children’s Museum
1. Ballpark
As soon as you go up to the 3rd floor, you will see “Ball Park” on the left. In the Ball Park, you can play freely with soft stretch balls illustrated with Anpanman and his friends that won’t hurt even if they hit you. These stretch balls are also available for purchase at the museum shop on the 2nd floor.
2. Bread Factory
Walk straight ahead from the stairs and you will see the “Bread Factory,” with its distinctive red roof, built on green artificial turf. Here, you can experience kneading bread dough that looks just like the real thing, and use various utensils to make bread with ingredients such as eggs so realistic that even adults might mistake them for real.
The texture changes depending on the stage of bread-making, a fun detail to enjoy. Inside the large oven are all kinds of bread, including one baked with Anpanman’s face in the center. You can also enter the inside, which makes it even more fun.
3. Playful island and school
Beyond the Bread Factory, separated by the restrooms, the left side is “Playful Island” and the right side is the school. At the school, craft classes are held where you can make things like Anpanman masks, and there is also a baby room nearby with soft materials, safe even for crawling infants.
Next to it, at Playful Island, there is a soft trampoline shaped like the whale Kuutan, a large slide inspired by an island, and Toudaiman’s rope climbing resembling a sandy beach. The nets have small enough holes so children’s feet won’t slip through, and at the bottom of the slide is a ball pool designed like an ocean cave, ensuring safety.
You can also take commemorative photos with Anpanman’s sand face and the castle next to it. Additionally, the floor of this ball pool has tiles with hidden characters from Anpanman’s friends, so children can enjoy a treasure hunt feeling as well.
4. Everyone’s town & Anpanman-go
When you head to the right of the school, a large Anpanman-go appears! It has been renewed and is now even bigger than before the relocation. Inside, there are as many as 80 interactive features. Pull a lever to hear Jam Ojisan’s voice or launch a Nose Punch—there are plenty of fun tricks to enjoy. You can even explore the inside of the ever-crowded Anpanman-go.
Next door, in “Everyone’s Town,” you’ll find houses belonging to the residents of Anpanman’s world! At Kabao-kun’s house, you can harvest vegetables and play pretend cooking, while at the Candy House, children can become shop clerks and make shaved ice in the kitchen of the cute little shop that parents and kids can enjoy together. There are also houses with keyholes you can peek into and other fun tricks, so you can explore all the houses in town.
5. Exciting park and information, etc..
In Exciting Park, there is a large hall where parents and children can sing songs together with Anpanman. There is an information desk nearby for peace of mind. Even if a child gets lost, the staff will assist you. If you start feeling unwell, there is also a first-aid room where you can rest for a while.
Inside the facility, there are ramps and elevators to ensure safe movement for wheelchair users and people with canes. In the basement, there are parking spaces for people with disabilities, and multi-purpose restrooms are available on floors 1–3. For babies, there are nursing rooms and diaper-changing stations on the same floors, and milk and diapers are sold at the Anpanman Terrace on the 1st floor. Nearby, you’ll also find a hot water dispenser and microwave. Chargers, cameras, and batteries are also available for purchase. For meals, allergen information based on ingredient usage is provided for the food sold at the 1st-floor food court, so you can dine with confidence.
6. Cafes and restaurants
On the 1st floor, which has a free space, there are many shops lined up selling udon, hamburgers, popcorn, soft-serve ice cream, and more. At the rice bowl shop, the “Tsukune Bowl with Souvenir Bowl” lets you take the bowl home and reuse it at home. Popular hamburgers sell out quickly, so early purchase is recommended.
In addition, the Yokohama Anpanman Children’s Museum offers exclusive menu items such as the “Sweet Curry Panman Curry,” which comes with a small jigsaw puzzle you can take home and play with. There are also shops where you can take commemorative photos, limited-edition picture books not sold in regular bookstores, and items like backpacks, T-shirts, and shoes.
The most popular spot is “Jam Ojisan’s Bread Factory.” Through the glass-walled kitchen, you can watch staff carefully making the famous “Anpanman Bread,” which is reasonably priced at 330 yen. Besides Anpanman, there are many varieties such as Baikinman, Dokin-chan, Shokupanman, Currypanman, Kokin-chan, and Cheese. They also sell items like mascot keychains and delicious strawberry jam.
At the Anpanman Restaurant on the 1st floor, a reservation-only “Premium Birthday Plan” is offered. Parents and children can wear original Anpanman matching aprons and enjoy decorating a special shortcake for the day! After making the cake, you can dine in a special seating area, and you’ll receive a commemorative photo taken during the experience. Be sure to check the official site for details on fees and reservations.
7. Events and goods
Events and shows are held in two places: the 1st-floor plaza and the 3rd-floor paid plaza. In the 1st-floor show, the Anpanman-go (airship) collides with the familiar “Dadan-dan.” The top door of the Anpanman-go opens, and it appears from there. During the show, the Anpanman-go circles around so that you can see it even if there are many people in front of you. “Dadan-dan” is more than twice the size of the Anpanman-go, creating a powerful show that you can watch for free. There are two performances per day, so be sure to check the times in advance.
The paid show on the 3rd floor is also a must-see. In this show, Batako-san, Anpanman with his new face, and Baikinman make appearances. Other characters like Shokupanman, Currypanman, and Dokin-chan also give powerful performances on stage.
The museum shop sells original T-shirts, mugs, and more. The 1st-floor shop is full of Yokohama-exclusive goods. There are also seasonal limited items, such as Halloween goods. Recommended items include the museum shop-exclusive wood color charms & plates and fluffy pochettes.
Using the “Advance Web Ticket,” which you can purchase with your smartphone, is also recommended. While visiting right after opening is ideal, the ticket counter usually gets crowded. If you buy your ticket in advance, you can enter smoothly without lining up and have more time to play. Advance tickets are valid for six months, so even if sudden plans prevent your visit, it’s okay! No printing or convenience store issuance is necessary; you can enter with just your smartphone.
