An unmissible stop when visiting the east coast of the US, Boston is known for its important part in the American Revolution, great food and friendly people. A must sightseeing visit of Boston’s popular historic landmark is the Freedom Trail. If learning about the history isn't quite your thing, then make sure to get tickets to see a baseball game in Fenway Park. 1. The Freedom Trail

The best place to get a feeling for the incredible history of Boston, the Freedom Trail is a 2.5 mile stretch of road through the center of the city that passes a number of historic landmarks and sites. It'll usually take up most of a day to walk along the route and take in all the sights along the way, you can also join one of the numerous guided tours that explores the area.

Whether you’d like to skate on an icy pond or take a romantic sightseeing boat ride, Boston has a botanical garden known to be the state’s oldest public garden. If you want to enjoy a great skating experience make sure you reserve your trip to Boston during winter when the lake freezes over. The Boston Public Garden is also popular for its beautiful swan boats that return to the lake each spring ever since the boats debuted in 1877 designed by Robert Paget.

3. Quincy Market

There is a tour available each day that begins at 10 am. Take yourself back to the popular incident in 1773 where 342 chests containing tea owned by the British East India company were disposed from the ships into the waters of Boston Harbor, one of the major events of the American Revolution.

At the stadium you'll be able to get a great insight into the history of the team and its historic members and for those who have planned ahead maybe even watch a match there.

Like the fascinating museums of history found around the city, Boston also has a number of amazing science exhibits such as those at the Boston Museum of Science. Here you'll find over 400 exhibits full of interactive engagement. Popular favorites at the Museum are the planetarium, virtual fish tank, and the IMAX theater. The museum opens from 9 am to 5 pm daily and is a great spot for families to bring their kids along for a great educational experience in Boston.

7. Samuel Adams Brewery

For a taste of Boston’s best beer brewery, head down to the Jamaica Plain neighbourhood in Boston for a tour of the Samuel Adams Brewery where you can find out about the brewery’s history, indulge in beer tastings and find a gift for any beer enthusiastic friends. Visitors will be able to have a glimpse of how beer is made and then be rewarded with a taste of the beer you've just been staring at.

8. New England Aquarium

The perfect stop for families with kids, here you'll be greeted with a vast and immersive ocean world. The aquarium is a home to a number of sea lions and playful penguins that are usually huge hits with the kids. There are also tanks filled with exotic lion fish and jellyfishes to check out. Also make sure to head to the Edge of the Sea tide pool where you’ll be able to touch and interact with some of the sea stars and horseshoe crabs.

10. Boston Harbor Islands National & State Park

The Boston Harbor Island is filled with opportunities to escape to nature, hike and explore the old ruins here or just walk around the coast paths. Camping is also a popular activity for people visiting the island, being outside of the city it's a great place for stargazing.
