3 Recommended Tourist Spots in Tumon, Guam

1. Tumon Bay

When touring Tumon, the first must-see is the beach within Tumon Bay. The entire bay is known for its uniquely beautiful beaches, often collectively called Tumon Beach, though generally the term refers to the section near the hotel district on the slightly northern side of the bay. It is conveniently close to the downtown area, and with its white sand, shallow waters, and gentle waves, it is perfect for swimming.

In addition, individual areas may be known by specific names such as “○○○ Beach” or “Beach in front of ○○○ Hotel.” Besides Tumon, Gang Beach, Matapan Beach, and Ipao Beach are also famous, each suited for activities such as swimming or snorkeling.

For a change of pace, visiting the private Fai Fai Beach on an arranged tour that includes transport and activities is also recommended. There are even jungle and cave tours that include visits to ancient latte stones and stalactite caves.

2. Two Lovers Point

Located on a high cliff at the northern end of Tumon Bay, Two Lovers Point has a romantic legend. It is said that long ago, young Chamorro lovers, pursued by a Spanish governor insisting they marry, tied their long hair together and leaped from this cliff. Since then, the local people have regarded this high place as a sacred spot for young lovers, calling it “Puntan Dos Amantes” (Two Lovers Point).

This cape is a sheer cliff with an observation deck offering a panoramic view of the beautiful coastline of Tumon Bay. On clear days, you can also see Mount Ararat. Recently, due to poor gas emissions in central Tumon, the view might be occasionally obscured, but if you seek that perfect view, it’s definitely worth the climb.

3. Pleasure Island

Located on the north side of Hotel Road in Tumon, Pleasure Island is a comprehensive amusement complex that gathers shopping, entertainment facilities, hotels, and restaurants.

Many of the venues on Pleasure Island are open until after 11:00 PM, so you can enjoy its vibrant nightlife. For instance, at the Bamboo Bar inside the Outrigger Guam Resort Hotel and at Dance Hall Globe, you can enjoy drinks and a lively night scene. Pleasure Island is a popular destination for those looking for fun and relaxation in Tumon.
