What’s the Appeal of Yoyogi, Where You Can Fully Enjoy Urban Nature? 5 Must-See Tourist Spots
1. Yoyogi VILLAGE
With the theme “Changing the City of Yoyogi,” Yoyogi VILLAGE is a newly developed tourist spot created by various industry experts. It is conceptually produced by KURKKU Inc., led by the famous music producer Takeshi Kobayashi.
Inside the facility, you’ll find a variety of shops. There’s a “MUSIC BAR” that plays carefully selected analog records chosen nightly by music producer and artist Shinichi Osawa, a stylish café where you can relax, and a high-quality restaurant that uses premium ingredients.
In addition, there are lifestyle shops that blend art into their offerings, making a simple stroll feel exciting. There is also a charming garden produced by plant hunter Kiyoshi Nishihata featuring plants from around the world. As one of Yoyogi’s most fashionable spots, it’s the perfect place to enjoy quality time with friends or on a date.
2. NTT Docomo Yoyogi Building

Also known colloquially as “Docomo Tower,” the NTT Docomo Yoyogi Building is a super-tall tower located just behind Yoyogi Station. It serves as a landmark for the area. Its massive, majestic presence is so imposing that it reminds one of the skyscrapers in New York. Although it does not feature an observation deck and therefore is off-limits to tourists for interior visits (except for authorized persons), the building is impressive to admire from the outside.
In the early evening and at night, it is beautifully illuminated, creating a mood entirely different from its daytime appearance. Interestingly, the building also houses a machine room fitted with communications equipment for mobile phones and call center offices.

3. Tokyo Jamii
Located just a few minutes on foot from Yoyogi-Uehara Station on the Odakyu Line, Tokyo Jamii is an eye-catching building in the area. Known as the “Tokyo Jamii,” it is one of the largest mosques in Japan and is sometimes referred to as “Tokyo Mosque” or “Yoyogi Mosque.”
It is open during the five daily prayer times, with Friday services attracting over 350 worshippers. On weekends (Saturday and Sunday), free tours of the mosque are available without a reservation! The interior is regarded as one of the most beautiful in East Asia.
In addition to learning about the building’s history and architectural design, you can also gain insights into Islam. A center dedicated to Turkish culture and the mosque is also attached—be sure to check it out if you are interested.

While many visit the shrine primarily for worship, it is also highly recommended as a sightseeing destination. The majestic and gentle atmosphere of Meiji Jingu makes you forget that you are in the midst of a bustling metropolis, leaving a special impression every time you visit.
Recognized as one of Tokyo’s most prominent power spots, the spiritual energy from Meiji Jingu seems to radiate through all of Yoyogi. A tour of Meiji Jingu followed by a stroll through Yoyogi Park is an ideal itinerary for relaxation and rejuvenation.

The shrine’s history dates back to the Jomon period, and on its grounds is a reconstructed pit dwelling from that time, believed to gather positive energy from ancient times.
The most potent power spot in the shrine is the Shussei Inari Hachiman-gu. As the name suggests, this shrine is believed to bring benefits for career advancement and prosperity. It is frequently featured on TV for boosting success in work and personal endeavors. It is also said to be effective for romantic endeavors.
Though located in the heart of the city, Yoyogi Hachiman-gu retains a sacred, timeless atmosphere that makes it a must-visit along with Meiji Jingu.
