The Independence Square is another tourist attraction found at Basseterre at Saint Kitts and Nevis Federation. It was initially built during the 1700s for council meetings and slave auctions. In 1983, the place became a site to commemorate the independence of Saint Kitts and Nevis Federation from Great Britain. Today, the square is a place worthy of sightseeing. Constructed in 1763, Clay Villa Plantation House and Gardens is the only property which stayed a free working estate when other plantations around Saint Kitts gained more profit due to the slave trade. 10. Fothergills Nevisian Heritage Village (Nevis)
