With the magnificent Daisetsuzan Mountain Range in the background, you can enjoy Biei’s signature patchwork landscapes by walking or riding carts around, or by interacting with alpacas at the ranch—an experience unique to Hokkaido.

1. Green Season (Late April – Late October)

During the green season at “Shikisai no Oka” panoramic flower garden, about 30 varieties of colorful flowers bloom in patchwork stripes from spring to fall.

The types and colors of flowers vary by period, so you’ll enjoy a different view each time you visit. You can walk leisurely through the vast flower fields or ride the transport options listed below for a fun tour.

A tractor-pulled sightseeing train. Ride time is about 15 minutes. It’s an easy way to tour the spacious grounds, and the roof provides peace of mind even in rainy weather.

◇ Cart

Ideal for those who want to explore the garden paths freely. You can drive at your own pace and stop at your favorite spots for photos.
Carts hold 4 people. The basic fee covers 15 minutes, and you can extend in 5-minute increments.

◇ Buggy

Want to ride a cool single- or double-seater buggy on an off-road course? Try speeding around the special ~1 km course located near the restaurant/shop area and alpaca farm.
Available to those aged 16 and up. No driver’s license needed.

2. Winter Season – Challenge Snow Rafting & Snowmobiles

From mid-December to early April, when Biei in Hokkaido is covered in snow, Shikisai no Oka becomes Snow Land. In this silver-white world, you can enjoy seasonal winter activities.
Try exciting snow rafting or your first ride on a snowmobile!
Enjoy sledding on snowfield courses, make snowmen, or play with your dog in the snow at the dog run.

Pulled by a snowmobile, this is one of Shikisai no Oka’s most thrilling winter activities. Enjoy the adrenaline as you glide through the wintry landscape.

◇ Snowmobiles

Ever wanted to drive a snowmobile? At Shikisai no Oka, that wish comes true!
Speed across Biei’s vast snowfields. First-timers are guided through the basics, so no worries.
Courses range from a simple ~1 km loop, to a ~5 km forest trail, and even 20–30 km long-distance tours lasting from 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Choose the plan that suits you best!

◇ Winter Dog Run (Late Jan–Late March, Free)

A limited-time dog run opens every year. Run freely in the snow with your pup at winter Shikisai no Oka.
Location: Behind “Udon Shop Mugisai no Oka.”
Shops also sell additive-free venison and other dog-friendly treats. Let your furry friend taste the local flavors of Biei!

3. Alpaca Farm (Open Year-Round)

The alpaca farm at Shikisai no Oka is open year-round. Even in winter, the fluffy alpacas are lively and full of energy!
They have great appetites and don’t mind the cold—try feeding them and enjoy a warm interaction.

4. Restaurant & Shop

The first floor of the entrance building is the shop, and the second floor is the restaurant.
A popular item at the shop is the “Oka no Jagaimo Korokke”—crispy, flavorful potato croquettes made from freshly harvested potatoes grown at Shikisai no Oka FARM. The Snow Melon, made with Biei-grown melon topped with rich-flavored soft-serve ice cream from fresh milk, is an indulgent treat.
In addition to souvenirs like alpaca and lavender-themed goods, dried flowers, sweets and products from Hokkaido and Biei, fresh produce is also available for sale.
On the second floor is the restaurant “Phlox Hall”. How about enjoying Shikisai no Oka’s signature hearty soup curry while taking in views of the Daisetsu Mountains and flower fields?

5. Pension “Shikisai no Oka Farm Pension With You”

Just a few minutes’ walk from Shikisai no Oka, “Shikisai no Oka Farm Pension With You” offers a relaxing holiday with stunning views of Biei’s expansive landscapes.

◇ By Car

Shikisai no Oka is conveniently located about 30 minutes by car from Asahikawa Airport, making rental cars a recommended option. From National Route 237, turn onto Hokkaido Route 824.
There is a spacious parking lot that can accommodate around 300 passenger vehicles.
Parking costs 500 yen during the peak season (around July to the end of September).

◇ By JR (Train)

If you plan to visit Shikisai no Oka by train, the nearest station is Bibaushi Station on the JR Furano Line.
It takes about 30 minutes on foot from Bibaushi Station, so you may want to consider renting a bicycle or taking a taxi.
