What is Minatogawa Foreigners’ Housing Area?

Urasoe City is home to Camp Kinser, a U.S. Marine Corps base. In the past, the Minatogawa Foreigners’ Housing Area was where U.S. military personnel stationed in Okinawa and their families lived.

This residential area for foreigners has since been renovated and now features about 60 unique shops, including general stores and gourmet spots.

To enhance the American feel, the area is divided into sections named after U.S. states: Georgia, Texas, Indiana, Florida, Nevada, Virginia, Kansas, Michigan, Oregon, and Arizona.

[By Car]

About 20 minutes by car from Naha Airport
*The Minatogawa Foreigners’ Housing Area parking lot has only a few spaces. There are coin-operated parking lots nearby.

[By Bus]

From Naha Airport, take the “Okinawa Bus No. 120 Nago West Airport Line” and get off at the “Minatogawa” bus stop. Enter the small street between the gas station and Urasoe Cultural Hall to arrive.
