You Can Read Japanese Books Even in Bangkok! 4 Bookstores in Sukhumvit!
1. Kinokuniya EmQuartier Branch
In Thailand, when you think of bookstores where you can buy Japanese books, Kinokuniya is the top choice.
Located inside the stylish shopping mall EmQuartier in the Sukhumvit area, Kinokuniya offers an excellent selection of English, Thai, and Japanese books—over 200,000 titles!
Even if you find yourself needing a travel guidebook or Thai language textbook after arriving, you’ll be fine. EmQuartier is also directly connected to the BTS Phrom Phong Station on Sukhumvit Road, making it very convenient. Prices are slightly higher than in Japan, but if you want new books, definitely visit Kinokuniya.
2. Tokyodo Bookstore
Another important bookstore in the Sukhumvit area is Tokyodo Bookstore.
Although Tokyodo carries fewer titles than Kinokuniya, it remains a valuable place in Thailand where you can buy new Japanese books.
They also have a strong selection of guidebooks about Thailand and nonfiction titles.
Tokyodo Bookstore is conveniently located—either on the 3rd floor of Emporium Shopping Center directly connected to BTS Phrom Phong Station, or on the 1st floor of Gateway Ekamai, which is directly connected to BTS Ekkamai Station. In terms of convenience, it’s on par with Kinokuniya.
If you find yourself wanting a book during your travels, why not stop by Tokyodo Bookstore?

3. Key Books
Key Books is a relatively new secondhand bookstore located across from Fuji Supermarket in the Sukhumvit area.
The shop is small, but bright, clean, and easy to browse. Compared to other secondhand bookstores, the atmosphere is very welcoming.
Books that were recently popular are neatly arranged, so you’ll surely find titles where you think, “I’ve been wanting to read this!”
They also sell Thai-themed miscellaneous goods near the register. You might even discover an unexpected and charming souvenir.
Since it is a secondhand bookstore, they also buy used books. Key Books is located in one of the areas with the highest concentration of Japanese residents in Sukhumvit, so feel free to stop by.

4. Sun Books
Sun Books is a secondhand bookstore with two shops in the Sukhumvit area.
In the first shop, books fill the shelves to the brim, and those that don’t fit are stacked on the floor. The narrow shop is packed with books, making it hard to find what you’re looking for, but it also feels like a treasure hunt. They carry manga, paperback novels, hardcover books, and even a small selection of picture books and Western books. Older titles can be purchased at very low prices.
As a secondhand bookstore, they also buy used books. It’s great to be able to sell books you’ve finished reading during your trip. You can also find old guidebooks at low prices, making this a good option for those prioritizing affordability.
