Fisherman’s Wharf Shirahama | A Place to Enjoy the Bounty of the Sea of Nanki Shirahama with All Your Senses

The Main Attraction: The Fish Market!

The Fish Market is a fisherman-operated seafood market located within Fisherman's Wharf Shirahama. Here, you can enjoy fresh bonito, tuna, the famous Shirahama specialty "Kue," and other seafood caught at Yuzaki Fishing Port. There is also a sushi corner where you can eat the freshly landed seafood on the spot. In addition, fresh vegetables and fruits grown in the great nature of Nanki Kumano are sold. Since you can purchase seafood and eat it right there, if you’re curious about any ingredients, just ask one of the fishermen.

Restaurants Serving Delicious Seafood!

“Ichiba Shokudō” – Simple & Luxurious Seafood Bowl

When it comes to Nanki, seafood is the star. If you want to savor exquisite seafood, try a seafood bowl at the Market Dining Hall located within Fisherman's Wharf Shirahama. Because it is a market operated directly by fishermen, the lavishly served seafood bowl is one of the wharf’s highlights. Besides seafood bowls, the fishermen’s meal called "Okimeshi" (a meal eaten by fishermen at sea) is also recommended. Tempura bowls, tuna bowls, and half-and-half bowls (featuring fresh raw whitebait and boiled whitebait, half and half) are also popular. When the season is right, bonito bowls are delicious too.

“Wadaining Banya – Ban’ya –”

At Ban’ya, you can enjoy a lavish course meal ranging from set meals, seafood sashimi, hot pot dishes to luxurious kaiseki cuisine, all featuring local specialties and fresh seafood caught locally. Whether for lunch or dinner, you can dine while enjoying a breathtaking view of Shiroyohama from the tatami room or terrace. Reservations are accepted, so once you have your schedule, be sure to book. They also offer a kids’ plate, making it a great choice for families.

“Italian Dining Scarpetta – Scarpetta –”

Located on the 2nd floor of Fisherman's Wharf Shirahama, Italian Dining Scarpetta serves Italian cuisine made with fresh ingredients from Kishu and fresh seafood delivered directly by fishermen off the Shirahama coast.

Orders are accepted from servings for two, so come with your partner, friends, or family. If the weather is nice, you can enjoy terrace seating as well. Enjoy lunch or dinner with the stunning view of Shiroyohama in the background. They offer takeout pizza, as well as popular lunch sets that include a salad, bread, and soup featuring fish or meat as the main ingredient. For dessert, the restaurant’s original gâteau au chocolat and affogato are highly recommended.

“Beer Garden Club Caribbean – Club Caribbean –”

Club Caribbean is popular for its BBQ where you can grill your choice of seafood on the spot. Enjoy a BBQ in an unbeatable location with a view of Shiroyohama. Feast on the fresh scallops, turban shells, and head-on shrimp caught at a local fishing port that will surely lift your spirits. Besides seafood, you can also order set menus perfect for BBQ including meat platters and vegetable sets.
