1. What is the Fujikawa Service Area?

The Fujikawa Service Area is a scenic rest stop located along the Fujikawa River. It offers a viewpoint of Mt. Fuji and also provides beautiful views of the sunset.

Within the facility, you’ll find a large Ferris wheel with great views of Mt. Fuji, a roadside station with souvenir shops and a planetarium, and even a dog run where your dog can play—ensuring you’ll have a great time. It’s a perfect spot to refresh yourself from a long drive.

The area also has a wide variety of restaurants and food courts, so you won’t have trouble finding a meal. You can enjoy Shizuoka specialties and regional gourmet food. There’s also a bus stop for Tomei Fujikawa, making it a great place to stop on a highway bus journey. Additionally, near the Fujikawa Service Area is “Fugaku Onsen” Hana no Yu, where you can relax and relieve fatigue.

2. Recommended Facilities at EXPASA Fujikawa (Inbound toward Tokyo)

The inbound EXPASA Fujikawa is like an amusement park with the giant Ferris wheel “Fuji Sky View” and a dog run. It’s about 11 km from the previous parking area, “Yui PA.”

There is one rapid EV charging station at the gas station, so you can rest easy.

◆ Food Court

There is a food court ideal for meals and breaks. At “Mendokoro Fujinokuni,” you’ll find a wide variety of dishes using local ingredients, including soba, udon, and set meals.

At “Nichika Shoten,” you can enjoy the red-and-white seafood bowl and raw whitebait bowl made with fresh seafood directly from Yui Fishing Port. There’s also “Tendon Tenya,” a restaurant specializing in tempura rice bowls, and “Ramen Nanofuku” for Hakata tonkotsu ramen—definitely worth a try.

◆ Baby & Kids

With a nursing room, dedicated formula preparation unit, sinks, and diaper changing stations, families with small children can rest assured. Baby strollers are available for free rental, and baby goods are also sold.

3. What is the Giant Ferris Wheel “Fuji Sky View”? (Fujikawa Service Area Inbound)

At Fujikawa SA (Inbound), there is a giant Ferris wheel called “Fuji Sky View,” approximately 60 meters tall. One full rotation takes about 12 minutes, offering panoramic views of Mt. Fuji and Fuji City—highly recommended.

Of the 36 gondolas, 8 are see-through, and 1 gondola allows pets. The pet gondola has soft cushion sheets on the floor and pet beds on the seats, so you can enjoy a relaxed ride with your dog.

At sunset, an illumination show changes every 15 minutes, creating a dreamy nighttime atmosphere. It’s perfect for a romantic date—be sure to take a ride!

4. Recommended Facilities at EXPASA Fujikawa (Outbound toward Nagoya)

In the service area shops, you’ll find a Starbucks, a “Bakery & Café” selling Mt. Fuji-themed bread, and the popular local gourmet “Fujinomiya Yakisoba”—great options for breakfast too.

The facility also includes a Highway Information Terminal that shows traffic updates for both directions, a baby area with a private nursing room, and a 24-hour ATM for your convenience.

◆ Mt. Fuji Viewing Spot

From the outbound viewing spot, you can see Mt. Fuji and Suruga Bay together. There’s a stone monument labeled “Fujikawa Service Area” with a round hole in it—the view of Mt. Fuji through this hole is said to be the best and is very popular.

5. What is the Roadside Station “Fujikawa Rakuza”? (Fujikawa Service Area)

The roadside station “Fujikawa Rakuza” is packed with delicious treats from Shizuoka and is accessible from both the Tomei Expressway and local roads.

It spans four floors, with a restaurant and observation lounge where you can dine while viewing Mt. Fuji, souvenir shops, and general stores.

On the 4th floor, there’s a rare feature for a roadside station—a planetarium. The dome screen is about 14 meters in diameter and offers an impressive view of the starry sky.
